Critchley's record isn't miles better and has a transfer window. Every manager deserves a transfer window.
Here we go again.
Critchley is a far better manager/coach than Appleton
Appleton is stealing a living but no doubt if Charlton get shut he will get another job.
Once again we see the fickleness of supporters. When Appleton came here and gave his first interview there quite were a few posters who raved about how good he spoke. Very naive IMO.

He did speak much better than he had first time around to be fair. I don’t think anyone can say otherwise.

It's like arguing what smells worse; stale piss or a big lump of shit.

In all seriousness, Appleton was bad but Critchley is hardly setting the world alight so can't say either or is better with confidence.

Interesting that they were surprised when we signed Morgan. Thought he was only a squad player. That seemed reasonable in his early games for us but has gone up a level recently. Lets hope he kicks on from here. Only 23.
If so that would be a great signing by Critchley and a positive re his coaching perhaps.

Maybe when they play us on Saturday 27th, and our players want to prove a point to him, about last year. We then beat them comfortably, and would it surprise anyone if their Board decide the following day to offload him.

When Appleton decided that having anyone in midfield who could tackle or close down a player was purely a luxury, I had to check out my support for him.

We were literally wide open for any team to feast on our slow under fire defence. He then took a great young talent in Patino who had shone in a 8/10 role for England U teams plus in a few appearances for Arsenal and asked him to be an enforcer 😂
The kid was 7 stone wet through

I suspect they will. Especially those who remember him saying that they "massively overachieved last season" in his first press conference - a masterclass in how to piss off a squad straight after you've walked in the door.

That's how I started to feel when Critchley played Connolly at left wing back.

You are just a wind up, why people on here respond to you on any subject on here is unbelievable, i only do because you clueless and its funny trying to get you to bite

Sorry, I forgot Connolly at left wing back was completely normal. You obviously read the same tactical book as Critchley. I need to find a copy so we can chat about how good the formation is.

More than happy to have a chat with you, you might learn something

How quickly people forget that Appleton started as a manager in 2011, compared to Critch who started in 2019
Critch is still developing.
FYI their managerial records are:-
P. W. D. L. Win %
Appleton. 452. 169. 124. 159. 37.4
Critch. 160. 67. 42. 51. 41.88

With Blackpool
Appleton. 41. 9. 17. 15. 21.9
Critch. 146. 65. 37. 44. 44.5

Appleton achievements 2 x runner up League 1 2 x runner up EFL trophy
Critch achievements. Promotion (via play offs to championship)

These are stats ATG so how can you say Appleton is better than Critch.

By comparison Billy Ayre’s record at Blackpool was

P. W. D. L. Win %
191. 77. 70. 44. 40.37
And in his last season Blackpool only won 12 games

So Critch has even better stats than Billy as well and when you consider he is still a novice he has lots to learn and I repeat, give the man a chance.

Stats only tell you so much. Critchley's win ratio would be less if all his games were in the Championship. Not saying Appleton is better but at the moment, I don't feel like Appleton would be doing much worse than Critchley.

Appleton is a better league one manager and Critchley is good at coaching a method. Appleton sees his arse under pressure and Lincoln couldn't visualise the championship as a club so we won the play off final. But the head to head in this league has usually come down to Critchley having a Plan A that works to a point and then Appleton buggering it up by sussing it out and making subs. Like he did to Vincent Kompany at half time away at Burnley.

I watched one of Swanseas' games recently and Charlie has noticeably bulked up and was running the show from midfield. He obviously learnt a lot from his season at Blackpool. Not sure if it was just agent bullshit but said to be being tracked by Juventus and AC Milan.

Billy was managing when Blackpool fans had to fund transfers!! You can’t bring his final season record into a comparison like this, it was absolutely phooking heroic what he managed to pull off that season with what he had left after Owen sold all the players from under him.

Sadler has cost us that, what the fuck was he thinking employing him in the first place, it was sadness.
Pre-season training 48 hours away and Mansford overseeing a beep test in a tracksuit was my guess at the time. Only bloke they knew who'd take it for an immediate start and local. Named his money and haggled to spread it out over four years with a break clause or an option. Liked the cut of his jib about Prem U21 loans and cost cutting the squad, scrap that pretend recruitment plan this fellas got one etc. Playing a 4-1-2-3 passing up through the lines quickly game and all the stuff that gets you jobs like the Charlton one now.

To the outside world you're taking on the guy you thought you'd left behind in the rear view mirror on the pitch at Wembley looking like an overheated wetherspoons bouncer. After he's run out of enthusiasm in the job he was in. And overcome a big illness. Looked like a shadow of himself in his first interview and never really got going. Cov away would have been lift off if it was going to be but it sounded like a good result came out of a bad situation on the day with a half time argument. Just a mess reacting to Critchley having their pants down when they'd put it all on him and the fans wouldn't have it.

He'll be saved from that because we'll be playing Bristol on Friday night.

He's been an abject failure in every Championship job he's had. Mid table League One is his forte
And Critchley is on the same path. I am not saying Appleton has been good but I am playing devil's advocate for those thinking Critchley is so much better.

You are overlooking the fact that Appleton has been in management for 13 years compared to Critch who is approaching his 5th year.
Appleton has gone backwards which is clear for all to see and how on earth someone can call him a better manager than Critch when all he used to do was stand in his technical area (and still does) with arms folded or hands in pockets is beyond me. To me that is a clear sign of someone who has no idea of what they are doing.
I don’t think he would even make a decent manager at non-league level either.
