People might find this an interesting read.

I see they loaned Corey Blackett-Taylor to Derby yesterday. It seems to be dividing opinion on their m/b.

Tough times for Charlton fans. I feel for them the same as Reading fans, and wish them well for the future.

When will the EFL and PL wake up to the fact that the fit and proper owners test should be a perpetual process; not just a hoop to jump through once when purchasing a football club.

Football is one of our greatest cultural exports, and the tossers in charge seem to want to strangle the golden goose at every opportunity.

Blackett-Taylor is out of contract at the end of the season and wasn't signing a new one so he's gone early and they've got something for the last six months rather than nothing at the end of it. This is what happens when you don't keep your best players well under contract. I said a while back it was looming for them and he'd be a better option playing off the left for us than anyone Critchley has tried there so far. But Derby have spotted the opportunity.

I only noticed yesterday with the Appleton thread on here that Charlton have been a lot more active with inbounds than they normally are this window. They're assembling some talent there now so they will be giving it a go again at some point. But whether Appleton is the right guy to make that work or just a stopgap remains to be seen. We could do with them being a shambles up until at least 5.30pm on Saturday and then they can do what they like.

There is a thread about it on the second of their message board sites (linked at the top of the page).

You might have more luck going in from there.

What is Charlton's issue right now though? Is the club under an existential threat from it's current owner or just in the early stages of trying to get things in order to push on? Everything is probably going to seem worse than it is when Appleton is your frontman as he's allergic to smiling.

The one common things amongst fans of Clubs with perceived problems (not nec CA) is that the fans never moaned about owners when things were going OK.

Blackpool isn't that different to the others. Probably 90% happy with the O's back in 2010.

Ours was less about whether it was going well or not, it was more to do with whether the owners were acting with clear malice towards the club, or prioritising funds earnt by the club for their own purposes.

I think most Blackpool fans can accept the ups and down of supporting a club our size. Most drew the line when Owen took the largest dividend in top flight history, along with buying Downton Abbery and a wooly mammoth.

I think it was when the Club was on the slide that people turned, and obviously when fans got sued.

I don't recall people slagging the owners off when we won at Anfield, me included, although I had a history of.

Obviously you know a lot about Blackett - Taylor then.
Every time a player leaves somewhere either on loan or for a permanent deal then, no matter who they are, they would be great for us because they would be a better option than anyone Critch has tried.

Blackett-Taylor scored a worldie at their place against us.

Neither do I, but none of the things I mentioned were in play when we were at Anfield.

Now we were going great guns when the Oyston dividend became public knowledge. In fact it was a few months before the West Ham play off final. That's when the start of the resistance from supporters really started, with accusations of asset stripping, questions about what would really happen with the Premier League winnings and when a certain section of fans started to follow the money.

7 assists and 8 goals off the left wing for Charlton so far this season including a thunderbolt equaliser against us cutting in on his stronger foot so yes he's a talent.

Surely you didn't just start following the EFL this year and you already knew about him as he's been knocking about for a few years now?

Some people simply don't watch football

I can see what you are saying, but I'd argue the methodology of the owners was plain from about 2000 and probably well before, but that's the date I associate with it. I joined here around that time because of the posters who were, should I say, very pro the owners. Oddly since some have been ridiculed and some faded away. Hideous people.

We are lucky to have SS instead of that pile of poop. But how long will we feel lucky for? Always the question without an answer.

They had that foreign manager who also owned some club in Belgium and asset stripped the club, from memory.
They did but they haven't now. They just sound a bit depressed and expecting the worst off the back of that but actually the current owner at least on the face of it seems to be in the process of trying to put things in place to sort them out.

Tbf to the Charlton fans I thought they really made it clear to the Belgian guy that he couldn't be trusted with their money by taking 38,227 to Wembley. The second free pay day he got off them in a week after 25,428 turned up at the Valley. And not a crisp bag thrown in anger.

Dodgy these Belgians.

Duchulet or something, well dodgy. Then owned by some Scandinavian guy who had no clue and now by the guys who nearly bankrupt Sunderland.
A series of panic managers inc apples and an expectancy that they should be highr in the league.
Their forum is a good read.
The BST link is because the Charlton Trust are best friends

Was hoping we would put the final nail in the Appleton coffin however it looks like Northampton are going to do it instead.
Probably makes Charlton a lot more dangerous on Saturday.

Charlton equaliser and then concede again !
We will murder this lot.
Famous last words. Wouldn't be so confident if it's Appleton who's causing it, he's not there on Saturday and they've got their new manager bounce invincible forcefield up.

Looks like he's done the thing he does when his main winger is sold and gone 3-5-2 like he did here after Bowler went.

So why are Charlton loaning him out then?
Oh yea, Appleton is manager.

He'll be sacked ahead of our game on Saturday for sure. Fans pretty much unanimously want him gone and I think that's a run of 13 games without a win. They've spent some money, too, and don't have that bad a side.

Bang average manager, at best, whose win ratio - outside of a couple of okay jobs - is terrible.

How we gave him a job in the Championship I don't know...

We did give him a job and the fans let SS know how unhappy we were and consequently he hasn’t communicated with us since apart from an open letter telling us off!🤣

Because Sadler wanted him even though he knew the supporters would hate it, plus Mansford didn't want him either.

And that makes him a bit of a cock in my book and blemishes the good he is doing for the infrastructure. He is far too precious and I'm sorry but that appointment was wrong wrong wrong, I have no idea what he was thinking, and then ** Mick McCarthy!!!

Where's your proof of all of this, you daft old fantasist?

How would some old soak like you who never goes to Blackpool know what's going on behind the scenes at the club?
