Chelsea vs Blackpool Unofficial Matchnight thread.

Chelsea really are a bunch of twats. From their horrible fans, to the owner, to the players and back again. Let's hope they get their assets frozen and we get to keep Sterling who is clearly a Seaside through and through.

Elroy's books are ace. Same goes for Elmore Leonard.
Hey Mark, agreed re Elmore Leonard and you’re very welcome too at the inaugural BASILELLROY/ELMORE if you can make it.

symposium
1. a conference or meeting for the discussion of some subject, esp an academic topic or social problem
2. a collection of scholarly contributions, usually published together, on a given subject
3. (in classical Greece) a drinking party with intellectual conversation, music, etc
Word Origin
C16: via Latin from Greek sumposion, from sumpinein to drink together, from sum- syn- + pinein to drink

very well played by the lads tonight. they are a talented bunch who play with purpose and are exciting to watch.

they've all done themselves, their loved ones, the club and the fans proud.

it's a great feeling to know that now we have our club back, we have a bright tangerine future with lads like these.

credit to them, murphs, ciaran and the staff.

It’s totally serious. Will DM you and Hertford and set it up. I know you and I met in the White Swan - and possibly herts too, though I lose track of those multiple ‘herts’ username’s!
We've met several times and you will be able to recognise Straighters by the Cords he'll be wearing and the I 🧡 LaLa tattoo on his forearm!!

So who would be a Youth team manager.
From tonight's squad:
Luke Marriette
Tayt Trusty
Jack Moore
Michael Fitzgerald
John Johnston (unused sub)
already have pro contracts so they are sorted.
Alec Mclachlan
Will Squires
Joe Strawn
Arnold Matshzi
Prince Yelegon (sub)
James Harrison (sub)
are all second year scholars and decisions on their futures need to be taken.
Jake Daniels
Dannen Francis
are still first years and pro contracts can only be offered when you are 17 anyway.
Tyler Moore
Johnson Opawale
are still u/16s.
It's a tough job for the Murphs and the team to decide who to let go and even tougher on the kids.
Apologies if I've missed anyone out.

Tough indeed as I struggled to see weak links. At least 3 of the second year scholars not contracted are worth a contract IMHO.

The great thing about tonight is, its given me a lift after the qpr game. I imagine it may have given a few more a lift too, was free to watch, 11k watched so far.

It was great to see our academy take on a real top one and push them all the way.

Should help people clear that 1st team disappointment, with a bit more excitement for the weekend now. Good weather this weekend for once too.

A few years ago when my lad was playing junior football, his side got invited to play against Chelsea girls (it was Chelsea’s way of trying to get the girls competitive football). One visit to the training ground and you realise the chasm between us as clubs and the money invested in the respective academies. To give them a proper game is a great guide to the work being done by Ciaran, Murphs and all the rest. Patience and effort will be rewarded.
Yep criminal money invested in sportswashing by a Putin croney

Insy, pretty sure Mike Fitzgerald hasn’t signed a pro yet.

Lad got carried away but was the best player on the park.
One of the best I think their number 7, Harvey Vale shaded it. A sublime shot for the equaliser and his pass for the penalty too I think. Lots of clever flicks quite a few which came off.

Our keeper was unlucky not to keep out their 2nd. Made a couple of instinctive stops.

Strawn lunged in a bit to give away the definite pen. Shame because he had a good game otherwise. Thought we were looking the more likely to win it at that point.
Pretty even 1st half, but we were better in 2nd half imo and their huge keeper kept them in it nr the end with 2 fine blocks.

It was Will Squires that conceded the penalty.

Overall, the Chelsea players were bigger and more powerful than our lads. They were also very well drilled in their pass and move game. That said, they came up against our own well-coached team that could match them in the pass & move tactics, whilst also having some individual skills and (in the second half) the will and desire to use them. I think that both teams' forwards were more than a match for their opponents' defences. In the end, Chelsea possibly had the stamina and ability to win out. Even so, if their goalie had not kept us at bay, we could have stolen it.

Insider - what level of wages do the lads start at?

Any idea what the Chelsea players are receiving?
