Chequersgate

A bit of entertainment for the Summer. Seems police may now investigate gatherings at Chequers during Covid which may have infringed the rules at the time. Will be speculation as to who were the guests ( eg Camilla suggested ).

It is reported that 'this came about because the government pays Johnson's legal fees for the Covid inquiry. He handed over diaries to lawyers, and as the client the Cabinet Office got to see them - leading them to refer the issue to the police.'

What's that German word that begins with an s ?

Can't play the card that Chequers is a workplace like he did for Number 10.

Someone who used to have an important job in the government once had some friends round to his country residence
Yawning Sleepy Emoticons

“Party on, dude” seems to have been the Bozo attitude throughout the Lockdown.
And Sunak has decided to skewer him, to prevent his resurrection.

I do seem to remember the case of a Derbyshire woman who was prosecuted that summer for sitting in her car having a coffee whilst talking to her friend who was in a different car (or something like). Rees-Mogg boasting that he took his family over to Chequers and they had a game of cricket. Johnson's sister also attended by her own admission - not sure how this meeting could be seen to be necessary for work purposes. When we were actually allowed to play club cricket that summer there were all sorts of rules that we had to follow about what could be done to the ball, how close players could be to each other etc. It's really not a good look, he was the PM.
As I said on another thread, it seems that the Conservative party is at war with itself. This story was probably instigated by Sunak's team. It's really pathetic, we need an election so that we can have a government focused on the very real challenges that we face.

It came via the lawyers appointed for Johnson , details as pointed out in the second post. Nothing to do with Sunak or any plot.
