Chiellini

Agree. Yet not a lot was made of it on the night and a yellow wasn’t contested.
Would have broke my back if I were Saka hitting the ground like that 😩
I didn't think it was as bad at the Matt Taylor eye gouge from behind on Dan Ballard in the Oxford play off home game. That WAS a red as it was with cynical intent to harm in a situation where he wasn't just trying to stop a phase of play.

Italy seem to make the absolute most of every situation in their favour, however small. Injuries, fouls, any breaks in play where they're not particularly in a rush. Effectively taunted England with the threat of a penalty shoot out.

I said to the missus last night that he looks older than me ……
She said “no he doesn’t” - great😐

He reminds me of Tuco in the Spaghetti Westerns....

His defensive partner, Bonucci, for me is equally as good and has been for years, even if his character doesn't generate the same headlines. As a pair, they have been exceptional.

I half expect Chiellini to retire but maybe he'll carry on as the world Cup is only next year and he missed out last time.
Yes! A homicidal maniac with more inner demons than you could shake a stick at.

I thought once they got into the game Verrati and Jorghino were very good as they have been all tournament (or since Verrati came back).

Their movement, pass rate, pass quality and availability changed the game for me. Jorghinho is being talked about as a Ballon D'or contender unsurprisingly
And he's not even Italian

Chiellini and Bonucci were both phenomenal. The tackle on Sterling much younger and fitter by Chiellini was incredible.

I'm surprised that people are surprised that an experienced international captain was able to cope defensively with pace.

Bobby Moore wasn't particularly speedy either. It's positional awareness and speed of thought that counts.

Chiellini is ace. Great player, great character, intelligent and a great leader on and off the pitch. My favourite footballer - apart from Jerry that is 👍
