Chris Martin

QPR will offer him a contract, so that will be the end of it, no great loss and concern would be how much money he would expect?

Be happy with this for a season or two. Doesn't really work with our squad at the moment mind as we are crap at crossing and have no one good enough to take set plays?

Seems to be a lot of emphasis of certain players and positions we aren't good enough in but bearing in mind we have a better manager than last season coupled with we have dropped down a level I personally expect most of the players to be good enough ! First 4 games are important for morale and to settle the team and management down.

He's spent the majority of his career in the Championship. We want a mix of young players who we can develop and sell on, and some experienced heads. We could do with a big forward so I'd be relatively happy with this if it happened.

Looks like we’re going for the Critchley method of pass it around the back until pressed, then pass it back to the goalkeeper, who waits until he’s pressed and hoofs it up to a big forward who gets beaten by a bigger defender.

He's the same height as Jerry!! 1.84m actually he's 6' and Jerry is 5'11" as Jerry was trying to claim 6' when he was being measured in pre season video. He was measured at 5'11" and Martin is 6' on his wikipedia page, although that could be wrong as they have Jerry as 5'7" on his page and that's totally wrong.

He’s not a big forward 6ft.

I would think that Critchley is more interested in grooming younger players than 35.
That's what he does, bring fresh talent in and improve their games.

They were our tactics in the Championship, not league 1, and the table confirmed it works!

The fact we are being linked with an experienced striker with decent pedigree is good news. As much as I rate Yates (who will probably leave), Lavery and Beesley, we do need someone to replace Madine.
I think we need two new strikers as we need to replace Madine and we were so short last season we had to play Rogers down the middle.

A good option if we can afford him, maybe on a 1-year deal and if he's fit.
An experienced big (biggish) decent lump.

I think we need some experience in the side so if he's in good shape fitness wise then why not. I like to think we have the youngsters like Apter, Holmes, Casey, Trusty, Lankashar etc as players we can use this season.

Ultimately Critch will be assessing the squad and discussing the dev squad with Dobbie.
If Dobs said, “Neil player X absolutely needs to be in your plans - he’s ready and will make a massive impact” then absolutely he would as it is what the owner wanted.

The fact we are reported to be looking at veteran strikers (if true) means he feels there’s a gap to be filled and internally we can’t.
