What is he really all about?? Looks like a frightened rabbit when he gets the ball. I blame the manager as he is played out of position. Should be an out an out winger and should hardly ever set foot in his own half. Probably the fastest player in the league and hes defending a cross near the corner flag in his own half. An utter waste of his very few talents which is speed.

lol - world beater the other week? 😂🤦🏻‍♂️
Please refer to post 4

If we're playing a more attacking side who leave space behind a higher line, then he's often very effective with his pace.

But if we're playing a defensive side who pack defence and midfield without leaving any space for his pace, he isn't.

Sadly most L1 sides fall into the 2nd category, and we don't seem to have a Plan B

Doesn’t sound like a CJ thing but more a management thing. Gotta pick the right team for the opposition as you say…

CJ is just a limited player. If he is up against a full back who he is quicker than and he doesn't have to defend and we are on top enough that he can stand in space and isn't really marked and we can get it to him and he only knocks and runs rather than trying any bit of skill whatsoever and he is having one of his 8 games per season where he actually delivers a decent ball then he is really dangerous. Any of the above doesn't fall into place and he is absuloute fcuking sh1t.

Jesus! How many effin times.

Some games suit him, some don't. A team sitting back doesn't work for him. But, and here's the science bit, who do you swap him with? There's nobody available.

that sums up our bed wetting section of fans … nobody was saying this a month ago after Pompey away and back to back 4.0 wins.

in my mind, he cant head, he cant tackle, rarely beats anyone with the ball at his feet and his end product is bordering on shite. That leaves him with his one attribute which is speed. Got to be played as deep as possible and in as much space as possible and try hit him as quickly and as often as we can.

Been saying he should have all defensive duties removed for months or just don't bother playing him and apparently I hate him.

To be fair watching at the ground and not tv, I thought Burton started by playing quite a high line and the diagonal to CJ was on time after time, we just didn't use it enough. Second half a goal up they got everyone behind the ball and there was no space for him.

There lies one of CJ's inabillitys as he couldn't beat an egg never mind a player with a football at his feet.
Unless it's passed in front of him to run onto he looks like he should be playing a sport other than Association Football and that comes back to Critchley for making the poor lad look anything but a footy player at wing-back.

Utter crap as usual. He beat his man more than once with the ball at his feet yesterday. Wether you like it or not him and Dembele are our best 2 routes to goal.

Playing him on the left would be a good start.
Why would we play a left footed speed merchant on the left wing, who regularly cuts back onto his (preferred) left foot and regularly slows down play, when we have a right back (Lyons) who can be fudged into that position ;-0
I know it's the fashion to have introverted wingers / wing backs, but please Critch, try something different - Plan B, C, D.....
CJ is an asset. Use him.

Thought CJ had a decent game yesterday, got behind the defence regularly and got in some decent crosses that we should have done more with. I do think that a simple plan b would be to switch the wingbacks over and get them crossing the ball from their natural side, particularly when you have a defensive set like Burton where they have 11 players in the last quarter of the pitch

Far to simple.

But he seems to have been told to lay the ball off inside as the default and afraid to take on players.
Seems he can only operate in certain circumstances. Would like to see him.on the left but the same may apply. Dale seems a better bet to me.

Early on he picked up the ball, glided around the outside of a couple of players and put in a decent cross. At this level he is very effective. The issue is the tactics.
He did it twice, and we should have scored on both occasions.

If we had, he'd be the messiah again on here.

Always passes to the penalty spot which presumably he is told to do, the problem being somebody needs to be told to be waiting for it. Lack of bodies in the box when we are crossing in open play. CJ is one of our better performers this season and far from being the problem

Much improved player - but we still forget to play to his strengths.
Gotta roast the full back with lots of space in front of him.
Also at corners - he can be the cover for a quick opposition breakaway - nobody quicker.
JUST USE HIM MORE EFFECTIVELY NC!
