CJ

Being a long time supporter of CJ, I thought how much he must have enjoyed the rendition from the North and standing ovation from the NW and West as he went back to the bench after being subbed.

He was good today; not outstanding, but as a confidence player, he must be so happy at the moment.
I think even a few of the moaning old gits in the West took their blankets off their knees and stood up!

He played well yesterday, as did all of them.I just think he needs to be a bit stronger. He is quite easily pushed off the ball. Maybe I'm just nitpicking a bit though.

He's better when he's no one to get past, ie. the second goal.

Thing that frustrates me greatly about moaning Minnie’s is…..if he had a better final ball or was stronger he’d be nowhere near Blackpools team, he’d be a regular Championship top end player. He is what he is, a fast, capable league 1 player who on his day will rinse 90% of defenders. I’ve never understood people getting on his back what more do they expect from him? Frustrates yes as do all Blackpool players at times. A massive asset to us and this could be a great season for him

He was slagged off because he's hidden in far too many games consistently for years upon years. He's found consistency this season. He's also been backed up with other flair and attacking players.

Don't forget, we started the season with him and Connolly as wing backs and we expected him to create everything and he isn't as good as Dembele or Bowler to do that role.

Let's not forget, for every performance yesterday there's a Bolton performance in there.

Yeah his chant and the recognition he got when walking past the North will give him confidence.

Some good moments but for me not even his best game 2nd half in particular, could have gone past his man more for me and just gone for it, get to the line and put it in the mix. But he's still deadly in other moments.

I think someone needs to send him Holloways book to unlock him fully...

not even close to his best game. Apart from one great moment thought he was average.

What the goal where he went past the defender on the line 🙄
to be accurate he didn't go past the defender with the ball at his feet did he?The ball was played down the line and he allowed the ball to go past him which fooled the defender and he turned and then he got away.

Shows how strong we can be when we only need some players to fire for a few moments.

A bit like a striker though, the important bits and what's usually remembered are the goals or goal involvements.

But he's a very useful player who teams are terrified of.

Am glad he gets some recognition for what he can do.

yep, he's done well this season but with a player like Dembele it means we don't have to rely on the wide players. We can look to get Dembele on the ball in that hole position.

The more threats we have the more space for other players there should be, if we're good enough to exploit it.

Joseph looks an intelligent player too and hopefully will be a real asset now.

He’s ok at this level he’ll do a job for us this and next season but if we go up I think we should cut him loose he’s not good enough

Semantics, he still has a man to get past and that’s what he did. So the original post about not having a man to get past was rollox

Unless they were suspended or injured, Grimmy, CJ, Hubby, Dougall, Dembele, Rhodes and Norburn would just remain on the team sheet.

Every player Blackpool have, and will bring in will have limitations and ultimately that’s what means they’re at Blackpool. If Dembele had Kouassi’s presence he’d be playing Champions League football. If CJ had Husbands intelligence and mentality he’d be playing in the Prem. We’re never going to get the fully rounded player. We’ll take players with 70/80% and with good tactics and great coaching we’ll get an extra 10% out of them. If we’re lucky we’ll one day land on a few 90% players or find a way to squeeze more than an extra 10% out of them like Holloway did. I find it bonkers our own fans seem to think we’ll bring in the equivalent of 23 year old Jordan Rhodes or secure Dembele on a permanent for the best years of his career. It isn’t happening. We’ve got to enjoy these sort of players whilst they’re here and accept them - warts and all. So that means CJ and his struggles to pick out a final pass, Marv and his occasional pass to the oppposition forward and Dougall and his ability to go from unplayable to anonymous from one game to the next.

He then went past a man on the byline to pull it back.

Cj has been fab this season and a pleasure to watch in the team on a weekly basis. Keep up the good work CJ
Ole ole ole ole CJ CJ

He would be twice the player on the left, with the pace to get to the by-line and centre the ball via his stronger foot. Owen Dale has the same issue on the other wing, constantly needing to drag.the ball onto his stronger fight foot. Still, that’s what they do at Liverpool with Mo Salah so I guess we’re stuck with it.

As an aside. Jerry Yates has scored 4 in 15 games at the swans. That’s a lower ratio than when with us in the Championship

CJ is building a repertoire of tricks and moves this season, outlandish pace was always his thing, and with a few tricks and moves the dipping of the his shoulder, a la stanley, and his quick turns complement his pace, and his awareness of players around him is much improved, but it was always much better than Bowler for example. His first touch is also much better than it has been before. he also works his arse off, he's not a great tackler but he is very good at just being a nuisance to an opposing winger and just not letting them get free movement. I'm really happy for him.

Still think he would be better on the left but Dembele and he seem to have an understanding and the same goes with Pennington.

He's had a quiet few weeks, compared to where he was in Sep and early Oct. But personally I thought he did a lot better Saturday.

His tracking back has come on so much this season though. Even when he's having a quiet spell, his pace means he's closed down potential breakaways on his flank and bought us regroup time. I still haven't worked out whether every full back in the Championship was just as quick as him, or he was carrying something that lost him the vital extra, but whatever it was it's not a factor this season because he's roasting them for pace in both directions.

Dembele’s ability to slip a pass in front of CJ has given us another option and defences another headache. The way he rolled off that defender, having let the ball go past, nightmare for defenders

I agree and he was bang average for most of the game and the amount of times he mis-controlled it was quite frankly embarrassing for a professional player.
He rolled his man very well for the goal and passed to a teammate a couple of more times than usual.

The bar for a good performance is set very low for CJ and I personally don't dislike him i just think he is being misused attempting to play him as a wing-back.

What the goal where he went past the defender on the line 🙄
You mean the one where the defender mistimed his interception and the ball ran free to CJ where he had no one to take on.
I can understand your mistake but CJ didn't get anywhere near the ball until it broke fortuitously for him.

Dembele has linked up with CJ on a number of occasions with the old one two, which is perfect for our speedy winger!

We should get rid, even if it costs £1m. He’s awful. Never seen such a sluggish player who never contributes anything.

unless he goes in January then Sadler needs to go too.

And who dubbed that video of the ole chant? AI at its most dangerou. Babies next.
