There was definitely postponements due to frozen pitches before social media.In years gone by the players would have played, even if the ground was as hard as concrete. Outfield players would have stuck their trainers on and the keepers would have worn tracky bottoms. The game has gone, full of ballet dancers who would have died of fright, playing on some of the pitches in the 70's.
Still, in the days where footballers fall to the ground in perfect conditions, after feeling the slightest touch, we shouldn't be surprised.
One hard patch on the pitch, game off, it's utterly laughable
The game is infinitely better nowadays due to the general quality of the pitches, especially at the highest level.
