Match report

Blackpool Senior Seasiders already depleted team shrugged off the loss of Dave Whiteside to injury in the first few minutes to beat local rivals Fleetwood Flyers 2-1 in a ‘ winner takes all ‘ final group game to secure top spot in the NW Walking Football League Group A.

Both teams came into the decider with maximum points and the Tangerines soaked up early pressure from the home side before taking the lead with a sweetly struck shot from Chris Moody.

In what was a highly competitive game both sides had chances well saved by their respective keepers before capt Paul Shannon doubled the lead in the second period.

Fleetwood pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 however tenacious defending from Andy Smith and Ronnie Moss and two fine saves from man of the match Mark Jackson in the final period kept the home side at bay and secured the three points and top spot in the group for the Pool.
This was a fine team performance from the ‘ Youth team ‘ who now go into the play offs against the other Group winners with their eyes on the main prize of overall champions in the inaugural season of what’s proving to be a very competitive Over 50s league.

Anything for the over 60s with arthritic knees? I go to the gym 4 times a week and have great upper body strength. Actually just thinking about it I was always a decent keeper if needed.

Point of order disgraceful our over 50's side are playing at the same time as our first team you should be ashamed whoever complied this fixture clash.😁

TAM this post even beats your post about Critch being paid by Villa 14 times what he was paid at Blackpool, £250 thousand a year at Blackpool as 1st team coach, increasing to £3.5 million a year to be an Assistant Coach at Villa.
