Comeback Holloway all is forgiven

Yes we have changed, for the worse!
What have we done since Ollie & Thommo?
This can’t be a serious question?

What have we done? Apart from getting rid of the biggest pair of cunts to own a football club and rebuild the Club to get back in the Championship? Hardly changed for the worse.

What have Ollie and Thommo done since us?

Thommo went to Knob End? Is that ok btw cos it’s not for MA? And Holloway got Palace promoted in 2013 and then left after a terrible start in the Prem and has been potted from every job he’s been in since, the last one Grimsby in League 2 which he played a key part in a total soap opera.

If you think Ollie and Thommo are the answer to this then we may as well see what DJ Campbell is up to as well. GTF bagged yesterday in non-league get him back.

ON THE PITCH, NOT OFF IT!

I really disliked Holloway towards the end but do you know for 4 months to rally the troops, the fans and to just go for it I'd have him back.
Not long term for me and I'd hope that would be made clear but he could come back, keep us up, retain legend status and disappear again.

To be honest there are so many unemployed managers about at the moment which would not cost us, most of which are better than what we currently have. Maybe one or more are being sounded out.

Warnock (although probably Cardiff bound)
Richardson
Wilder
Smith
Warburton
Manning
Allardyce
McCann
Hasselbaink
Pulis
Ferguson (Big Dunc)
Hughton
Lennon
Holloway

It's an AVFTT disease borne out of a small club mentality. Posters can only ever think of ex-players or ex-managers.
Very disrespectful threads like this, we still have a manager

I've got an idea 💡

How about backing the one we have?
Thanks for that insight Mac, for the record I didn’t want Larry or MA back, but our most successful post war manager I would welcome back.

Phil you slated Critch in much the same way and he got us promoted. No win in ten games is the problem, the longer that goes on the bigger the unrest will grow, that’s football

The difference being is that Critchley got everything he wanted, Appleton has been hung out to dry

It's chalk and cheese

Remind me of all the big signings Critch made? He made the best out of his budget. Maybe just maybe you should of backed him.
I did back him when I was at the matches

Not once did I chant against him at a game or sing songs about him not knowing what he was doing

I didn't want him as a manager as I didn't think he was the long term project that the club sold to us

And to be frank I was proven right

I have backed MA at the matches as have a lot of people. We are venting our frustration on here,
Like you did

No!!!!!!
He was a “Two-Faced pro-Oyston Cnut”
Remember his Gazette Statement :
“What’s all the fuss about” when OO paid himself a £11 million bonus and wouldn’t loan a goalkeeper that would have kept us in the Premiership for another year at a cost of £440K
NEVER FORGIVE NEVER FORGET!!!🚌

If MA were to go it deffo needs someone who would get the fans on board as a priority. So on that basis I'd take Ollie and Thommo.

From the list above I'd only take Wilder as a perm.

It is romantic and I can see the attraction from that perspective.

I couldn’t give a shit about what he has or hasn’t said about the Oystons.

I don’t want him as a manager though … He’s on acff downward trajectory and I doubt he can summon the same level of enthusiasm that he had last time around…

Eddie Howe
Neil Warnock
No doubt others
I sometimes feel that certain managers have a rare affiliation with certain clubs and always bring out the best (in players and supporters alike)
I would welcome Ollie back with open arms and if it came down to a vote the majority of fans would also go for him.
It’s very strange really when we have had players associated with our arch enemy who come back and people talk bollox about not coming back while they are there.
Brett was a prime example and yet people adored him when he came back
No reason Ollie couldn’t get the same treatment
Thing is he is probably finished with management now.
Howe is a bit different. He came back to millions due to a takeover that wasn't there in his first stint.

Not sure who Warncok went back to and had success?

The thing is he came to us when he was on a downward trajectory, he's mad as a box of frogs probably has a mental health illness but he was ** amazing and he did it with some help from VB and despite of the stains. Its years later but I think him coming back would be a massive lift and the players really would get to play some exciting football. If we go down fighting then shit happens. He has to have Thommo at his side though. How the fuck can Sadler employ useless Grayson and unwanted Appleton and ignore the most successful and exciting manager I have ever witnessed is unbelievable. Like I said, Sadler's one of these people who try and play the safe, peas are green, anorak approach to managers, I don't think he likes or wants a big personality, he's rather have someone from the walking dead.

I will always be grateful for what Holloway did and gave us a great trip(I was at Anfield when we had a great win) but he did make mistakes like beating Spurs at home midweek then changing the team losing at Fulham on Saturday. Like Alf Ramsey did at Ipswich he was lucky in that many players peaked at the same time but his record before (sacked by Leicester) and afterwards at QPR means we shouldn’t have him back and he should stick to tv pundit

The problem the club is currently facing is we’ve a manager who can’t get the best out of the tools at his disposal and is playing dire attritional football at the same time. He’s also eroded all positivity and optimism the fans had and has constantly talked the club down. At this point we’re heading for relegation and it’s not really possible for another manager to do any worse.

Holloway on a short term deal would be a bit of a gamble as there’s no guarantee he has it in him to turn this around - that being said there’s no guarantee for ANY manager.

He would however play attacking football and the tools are certainly in place for that to happen. Bowler and Rogers certainly have a bit of the Matt Phillips and Tom Ince about them. He’d stop this ‘little Bleckpool’ narrative as he knows that’s nonsense. He knows he can get more out of players than even the players themselves believe they’re capable of and a positive approach from him could well turn the whole ship around.
Holloway himself knows Blackpool could well be his last chance to manage at this level or any tbh and he also knows the club, it’s fans and the situation better than most.
If it works he’s a hero, gets another 12 months / 2 years to rebuild his reputation and to do the things at Blackpool he wanted but was never supported to do.
If it fails we’re in exactly the same position as we are currently, only we had a more interesting journey and would have benefited from much improved gate receipts for at least a few months.

Huddersfield has to be Apples last game if we don’t win. Lose that game we will need plenty of wins to stay up, we will need someone who can hit the ground running and knows the club, we will need somebody who can motivate a team to have a right go at the opposition. Step forward Ian Holloway
Some of our fans are on crack.

Most fans recall the fantastic journey with IH but since then he has struggled with any club he has touched and who is to know how a short tenure would work out.

There are options for established managers available and I would expect SS to be looking at what happens after May 2023 as well as the immediate.

Surely the answer is the Welsh smurf, he knows everything and is always right ......

🤣

He left, proving nothing.

Think you’re a little too obsessed with being right sometimes.

Holloway was in a moment. We were in a moment. The stars aligned. Those stars have moved way out of alignment in the 15 years that have passed.

John Herdman tho...
Herdman is a good shout but I would very much doubt he would leave the Canada job even for a top level Championship club.

Canada qualify for 2026 being a host nation so he's on a good number there for the next 3-4 years.

True enough. I loved the way they played though. It was the sort of football players like Jerry would absolutely adore.

Mick McCarthy? Another that knows the Championship very well.

Tony Pulis would grind out results.

Wilder would be exciting if we could afford him and has previously done well when he has a small budget.

Leam Richardson probably deserves another chance having done so well last season.

John Herdman an interesting call, where’s that curveball come from? Have I missed something

I just liked the way Canada played and thought 'hmmm - that would suit a lot of our players' and then discovered the guy was English.

It's not a rumour, it's just my random opinion.

Yep a complete **.

A name I haven't heard mentioned is Garry Monk. Got loads of experience, a good age (43) and wants to get back into management. He has a mixed record I know but so do most of the other managers who have been touted.
Appleton has a record which you would charitably call mixed but we still appointed him. Don’t think we can discount anyone on that basis.
