Computer help?

Switched on my computer today, to find when I open BBC.co.uk, it flips to the international version BBC.com

This usually means I'm either abroad, or have my VPN on, however I'm sat in FY4, & my Cloudflare VPN is off, I have checked in my start-up apps, & can see nothing, I checked windows which tells me I havent got its VPN on, however I checked my Proxy on line & it tells me my server is....

This server:173.255.232.166United States, New Jersey, Newark

Any advice? I have a feeling this isnt good..

Run a windows update

Then power off the router for 2 mins and restart your PC and router.

See if that resolves it. This week the windows update has been terrible. Causing all host of issues
 
Thanks Chunky, it suddenly appeared after the windows update, I went through running tasks on Task manager, & still didnt see owt, but I am stretching my IT knowledge here... will try in a minute

When I had a problem with my computer, I had to restore the start-up to a previous date. If you go on YouTube
there are videos that explain how to do this, might be worth trying a date just before the problem happened.
Then run a scan after that.
 
Writing this on my new machine. hope you get your glitches sorted out. I now have three machines. this . acer laptop which mrs tom uses. and a machine which i wont throw away. i am going to get it fixed up and donate to a local school.
