The new head of recruiting & manager have got a huge job on their hands

We have 9 players contracted beyond the end of the season and 9 players who we have options for a further year (Lavery has an option). Out of the 9 with options can only see 2 or 3 being taken on.

In addition we also have an option on Matty Virtue, Reece James on contract for another season, Tharme and Casey for another season plus 1 year option, and the likes of Rob Apter and the development squad. We have a lot of players !

Connolly is a good squad player who will be an assett in Lg1. Maxwell has come to the end of his time here, we need 6'5" goalie who commands his area.

He's better than anyone else that has played in that position this season, including Ekpiteta.
He very rarely let's the team down despite the way he's been treated. Would have been easy for him just to down tools and various points of his Blackpool career.
Also, Robinson said he was Oxford's best player until we recalled him last season.

It’s absolute fantasy football manager this thread . We don’t have the resources or scouting network to sign 12 new players unless we go back to the Oyston era 24 man ‘trialist’ era. I expect most of the options to be taken, and Madine to be allowed to ‘train and regain his fitness’ before signing a new 1+1 deal in January and once again becoming our first choice striker.

And he's pretty much our highest earner. As a midfielder I wouldn't extend his deal, but as centre back/right back cover, I would.

We only signed 1 or 2 as there was no space in the squad.
The injury crocks do not deserve considering
Madine is a disciplinary and injury liability
There will be lots of good players released, and we need space to play the market.

Yep - makes things a bit more difficult. Rob Apter and other U21's don't count - maybe look to sign some U21's EPL cast-offs permanently ?

At some point potential has to be given an opportunity and given the performances of the development squad this season you would like to think one or two will emerge particularly if we do finish up in League 1.

The whole idea in the first place has been to create something that creates from within.We may get an insight albeit small into that in the remaining 6 matches.

I would be gobsmacked if Dobbie doesent reach out to what he knows if only to freshen things up from the bench.
