Coulson v Dale or Lyons

The signing of Coulson whilst letting Dale go and not playing Lyons, pretty much sums up NC.

Coulson has to be one of the poorest players I’ve seen in many a year at Pool. Weak and zero pace, looks like a rabbit in the headlights. He offers absolutely nothing defensively or going forward, so what on earth did NC see in him?

Dale had his poorer games, but he was in a different class. However, he also let NC he wasn’t happy and we know NC can’t deal with that.

Lyons, a lot of promise but not as a wing-back. Feel sorry for the lad, because he’s also a different class.

Tonight was embarrassing, but starting with Coulson, Connolly and Virtue, it was entirely expected. You can’t just send players out against a team like Peterborough and with instructions to just run around and press. They just picked us off.

Agreed. Coulson is awful.

No you mentioned the guy playing ahead of him. Who is woeful.

Did I? I thought I was commenting on Lyons?

He reminds me of Connor Oliver

Dale, Virtue, Coulson, Connolly, all fuckin dead wood that make way too many appearances for us.
Spot on. Too many passengers in the squad. They might be fit and try hard and that might be ok for L2 level but they ain't good enough for L1 play off hopefuls.

Dale is the best of that bunch and he has gone to a rival

OK post. Virtue I will support.

If you think Dale is better than Coulson you need to watch a different sport.

Then you meed to clean your glasses.
Dale was shit.
I respect your opinion, but you must have missed a number of very good performances, particularly at wing-back where he worked his socks off. He had poor games, but he had talent at this level, as does Lyons. Coulson has nothing to offer and you surely can’t argue he has.

Andy Lyons is a wing back. That's where he played for Rovers all season when he was there (I watched most of their games that season) and when he played for Bohs before he went to Rovers.

I’m basing my judgement on what I’ve seen at Pool in a wing-back role. He may well be better than I’ve witnessed in that position. He’s had a rough time and few opportunities, but he’s way better than we’ve seen this season. I don’t understand his absence, such a bright prospect.

What’s the point of playing Coulson when he adds zero value to the team? He’s on loan it’s pointless. He’s left footed, that’s why he plays but he’s not done anything of note yet. Saying that we’ll probably try and sign him permanently.

Can’t go past anyone & doesn’t want to.

Would rather we play our own contracted players.

Dale, Gabriel and Lyons could all be very effective for us if played in their correct positions Dale is a winger and should not be judged as a wingback Lyons and Gabriel Lb and Rb as part of a back 4 would be more effective. As for coulsen I'd send him back to Middlesbrough today he brings absolutely nothing to the team I've not seen him do anything yet he's weakened us

Thommo is better, he wears his heart on his sleeve and can go past players, with a decent coach he would do well but we are playing a loan player over our own players and our own players are better.

Coulson is just such a poor signing. He’s so weak both on the ball and defensively. No quality on the ball and all of his crosses either go straight at the keeper, or out for a goal kick or a throw in.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t a massive fan of Dale in that left wing back role as I always felt uneasy when he had to track back like he was always going to give a penalty away (the exact same feeling I get with CJ as a wing back).

But in hindsight Dale is just as good if not better than Coulson defensively and massively better offensively. We’ve massively downgraded in that position this window which isn’t progress at all.

At the end of last season we also had Garbutt and Reece James who had both played that position and been promoted from this league.

There is no short term gain to playing an awful loan signing in that position so regardless of whether Lyons has performed as we think he can this season, he’s young and can improve and is our player so give him a run if games to the end of the season.
