Read his profile in that Gazette piece - he sounds like a decent man who cares about the town. Not sure that he deserves the epithets 'bellend' or 'wanker' - without the likes of him the Grand theatre would in all likelihood now be an empty concrete box.
 
He used to sit near to us in the west in the pre-boycott days so he's obviously a Seasider. This makes his statement even more baffling. It's not like he is some local dignitary who doesn't understand what it's like to be a fan.

Not everyone I know sees Fleetwod as a rival or holds any ill will towards them but they all desperately want to beat them by as big a margin as possible on Saturday.

I only said 'bit' of a wanker', some of the nicest people I know are still wankers.
 
He's probably saying that Fleetwood do have a chance of promotion, whereas Pool only can stay in League One.
I see nothing wrong with that.
Except I don't want Fleetwood to get promoted. 😉
 
What he says is I believe actually accurate and in no way insulting. He will, however, be very disappointed come 5pm on Saturday, when we have beaten the Cods 0-2. UTMP
 
What a stupid statement to make.
Best say ,if anything at all, a diplomatic “may the best team on the day win” and leave it at that.

Mind you even if we aren’t I still want us to beat them.
