Couple of thoughts from last night

Was impressed with Stewart when he came on. He was always there for the short pass to help the player on the ball. Also looks as though he can see a pass. What we want from a central midfielder.

The other thing that struck me was how much closer the lad from Everton was to Madine when he came on. Madine was superb at holding the ball up all game, but by being closer it gave a better chance of latching onto flick ons or allowing Madine to lay the ball off after he had attracted a couple of players to him. This then created space out wide to launch an attack from.

Agree with that. I'd add regarding Simms that he was making intelligent runs the entire time he was on the pitch. We've really missed that movement and unpredictability. It allowed us to put him through 1v1 on one occasion and he looks a step up from the previous loans of Kemp and Woodburn - albeit in different positions.

Also agree with that. Would really like to see more of Simms, but on the little time he was on it was obvious he has a footballing brain and was always on the correct side of defenders, inviting return passes. Two, almost three goals in 20 minutes !. Also pleased to see Rob Apter given some minutes - his performance far out weighed the little time he was on.
