Covid Catch Up

With no Premiership matches scheduled for the weekend after next surely it would make sense to play some of the postponed games due to Covid, Liverpool v Leeds, Man Utd v Brighton, Arsenal v Spurs and Everton v Newcastle plus a few more could be played

Burnley need to play 4-5 games to catch up on most teams, an astonishing 6 games behind Chelsea.

How?
African nations is on and World Cup Qualifiers Liverpool would be without Mane, Salah, Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino that's just off the top of my head, it ain't happening already agreed a weekend shut down.

No sympathy for teams that sign a load of Africans then bleat about them being away at AFCON. It's not like it's a surprise
So we should discourage teams from signing African players by penalising those teams by making them play when their players are away on international duty? You do realise the world Cup and the euros aren't the only international tournaments?

Of course, but why not play at the same time then it's not an issue.

Plus it's every other year, not a four year cycle.

If the AFCON were to try and fit in with the cycle of the world cup and the euros in the way you are suggesting then in order to allow African players the chance to play in the world cup the AFCON would have to take part at the same time as the euros and on a 4 year cycle. Financially speaking this not only limits the tournament in terms of it only being played every 4 years and not every 2 but it also limits the income because there will effectively be a competing tournament for the world football audience to watch.

This is all before you get in to the fact it's played at a different time of year. I personally don't like the fact the next WC isn't going to be held during the summer (for the northern hemisphere ofc). So I'm not going to expect that African nations should accept having to change the time of year when their tournament is played just to suit the premier league and our audience.

Games are being played while African players are away the O/P wanted matches whilst an International weekend is on.
Europe carried on during Covid others didn't not there fault they are behind, the World cup qualifiers should have been done by now or do you suggest domestic football should carry on when Nations play which is ridiculous?

The madness in all this is they have been cancelling games left right and centre over covid at the busiest time of the year while moaning the players are tired. Ok give them a winter break, but what’s the odds they all start whinging again when they have to play 3 times a week.

When did Liverpool qualify for the World Cup? I know they want it all but letting clubs sides qualify for the World Cup is a step too far for me.

Rugby play on at international weekends, as does cricket.
