From the times: The 38-year-old fast bowler, who has been an England player since 2002, admitted that it had been a “difficult time” for the squad. However, last night Anderson was dragged into a fresh Twitter storm, over a post from 2010 in which he said the new haircut of his team-mate, Stuart Broad, made him look like a “15 year old lesbian”.

Anderson became the first cricketer to model naked for Attitude, "Britain's biggest-selling gay magazine", in September 2010. He stated "if there are any gay cricketers they should feel confident enough to come out because I don't think there is any homophobia in cricket.
 
This is where things become deeply problematic. If you read Robinson's tweets, whilst foolish and obviously the product of an immature mind, they were also racially offensive and crucially, they would have been considered so in 2012 when he wrote them.

Jimmy's tweet is far less obvious. He's made a joke that in today's highly sensitive world would be jumped upon by many - not me, but so be it - but at the time would have been seen as simply a joke by most. It's a highly dangerous world indeed if today's standards are used to judge yesterday's actions, when yesterday's standards were different.
 
I feel I must confess. In the 1950,s when I was a child, When playing WW2 games, if I was the baddies ( the Nazis) I frequently gave the German straight arm salute. Also I called native Americans, Red Indians. So I'm ready to be castigated and shamed in public for my misdemeanors and un PC actions. 🙄
 
I remember the song about Lesbians from George Daws (Matt Lucas) on Vic and bobs show. I suppose he’s allowed to joke about it as he’s gay. That’s how it works isn’t it ?

It’s probably the same as black people using a word that they don’t mind saying but absolutely hate the white man using.
