Critch talking about released players

Interesting he said that the players who had left will have gone for various reasons including having found another club.
I reckon Max, Keshi and Jud have all found themselves new clubs already and wouldn't be surprised as out of contract players if we hear where they've gone next week.

I’d be shocked if this was the case. Most of football is still on holiday, Premier League retained lists aren’t out yet. I’d imagine there’ll be a market for them but Keshi averages 20 games a year, Thorniley has has three concussions this season and Maxi is well past 30. Like most out of contract players it will be a waiting game

I think he said those who have left are likely to have discussions with other clubs but he doesnt know, hasnt spoken to any of them. Players will get the best deals they can for themselves and their families. Keshi is Championship quality. Thorniley rumoured to be talking to Bristol C.

Kesh will be a bit part player at a Bristol City or a Stoke type club, Jud similar. His medicals will flag up the concussions he's had but they never did John Terry any harm in his career and he had a fair few.

Maxi's League One for me so will be interesting to see who picks him up... I would have said Wigan or someone like that local but they're having a mare at the minute with financials and what not.

I just wish we'd let Connelly go as well 😢

If you are out of contract at the end of a season you can sign a pre-contract as early as January so it's not inconceivable two of those three might have something lined up.
As for Maxwell I doubt anyone would want him as a number one after last season's stats.

Only with a club outside England, assuming they're moving to another EFL club, they can only start talks on Thursday.

Not with a domestic club

Maybe they keep missing him as they cannot remember his name

Connelly will be an important player for us next season.

Yes it wouldn’t surprise if Keshi goes to Orient under his ex manager Wellens !

Agree JQ , Connolly is nothing more than a handy player to fill in when your first choice is injured or suspended. He's not got a lot of footballing ability.

'... never did Terry any harm in his career and he had a fair few.'

Blimey, I know he was a talented pro during his playing days at Chelsea but to simultaneously have several other careers on the go at the same time is no mean feat, especially when you consider the physical demands of playing at such a high level...

Connelly was a much better player under Critch.

Curtis Nelson would be a great signing for me to and maybe another experienced CB as cover along with Marv.

He honestly wouldn’t, cost us so many goals and can’t head a ball properly.

Don’t get the love for Connolly either, decent enough as a fill in RB but not good enough as a CM.

Under Critchely Connolly was superb as a break up player defensive midfielder. Didn't play many games there but never let us down
If you're classification of 'Superb' is that he 'never let us down' we're worlds apart in terms of expectations of a player.

Of course, football is a matter of opinion, and I take your point.
He's better than Jud or Husband at CB, IMHO - and beggars can't be choosers.
He'll do for me in L1 - but maybe there are better options out there in the big clubs release list.

A fully fit Ekpiteta will be a massive boost as he struggled a bit this season and was way off his best before injury but he was alone.

Do have to agree that Husband at CB isn’t a long term answer though.

Jesus Christ

We are a League 1 team with League 1 players. Some people have expectations above our station

He was superb

We each have different views
I absolutely agree, many fans are unrealistic in their expectations but to expect a player to be competent is not unrealistic…

He wasn’t superb and I really don’t understand what people have seen in him to make them suggest that. He can take a set-piece though, I’ll give him that.

but it seems we’re off topic… I’d suggest if Critch had a say he’d have fought to keep Keshi. Be interesting to see what he does with Owen Dale too…

Owen Dale last seen yawning on the touchline as a sub in a pre season whilst warming up…sell him !

I'd like to hope he'd have kept him

Thorners was always going and I can't blame him. Always gave his best

Keshi is a class act (when fit) but I think he lost the love slightly. If Critch hadn't chased the money I bet he'd have stayed

However, I'd not be surprised if Critch finds an new Keshi somewhere

Dale, could be a gem ..... could be a dud, jury is out
