Critchley Confirmed - Official

Well, not my choice I have to say. I’m struggling to see why Dobbie wasn’t worth a go, but I think Critchley is a decent manager so I will be backing him. I just worry it’s another Divisive one, so I really hope he makes a good start…

Ah well, it is what it is. Not my choice but could do a lot worse.

Agree it's a shame Dobbie not involved from the perspective of succession and being part of the melting pot of ideas that go into a tactical masterclass.

Are there any ex Scotland internationals who have had a moderately successful management career that plateaued a while ago but have something to offer in the background free is the question...

Back to the future part 2 this time with NC, better than the MA appointment but not by much. As in life it rarely works out as well second time around. Still be the ground supporting the team and manager. UTP

The only reason I can see SS has given him a 4 year contract is to maximise compo when he walks out again. Not a chance he will be still be the manager in 4 years

happy to give him another chance . Strange he didn’t mention the restrictive covenant. Maybe the restrictive covenant restricted him from mentioning it?
Only he did allude to something stopping him didn’t he…

Also I never once said there was a restrictive covenant- I just said we didn’t know the full circumstances and that it’s not uncommon for processes and procedures to be in place which may make making whatever statement he did or didn’t want to make tricky.

Sadler made a very telling point.
If he had been presented with AN Other manager who had recently got a club like ours promoted in his first full season and then had a comfortable first campaign in the Championship, he would have been top of the list.
The fact that that man is Critchley doesn't detract from Sadler's decision.
Logic, reasoned and rational decision making.

Bitterly disappointed with the last two appointments but feel very positive with Critchley returning . Very good coach , was great for us and had he left with the right words people would feel different . The past can’t be changed but we can all be part of making the future a positive and enjoyable time.
Absolutely no point being negative towards him now, let’s back him and collectively work to a positive return . We’ve just had a chaotic miserable season , with the right financial backing and our immense support we could see a great year ahead! UTMP 🍊
Anyone at Peterborough away last season? I still got the receipts, that was a master class 🤯

I don't think anyone would have been a bigger fan of critchley first time around but I'm not convinced by this appointment. Based on his move to villa I questioned his long term thinking specifically as part of a big project. But maybe he's now financially more secure and has an even bigger point to make than first time around. I'll wait and see

A simple question: Yet again the same posters refer to what Phil may or may not post. Why all this childish (often insulting) fixation with Phil?
Just asking.
Disagree with one or two Critchley supporters (their opinions are respected & not subject to insulting replies) and your 'entitled', 'spitting your dummy out' or a 'gloom merchant'.
Those comments derive from individuals who cleary weren't on their university debating teams 🤣
It’s bullying

I was anti-Critchley and preferred Dobbie for footballing reasons, although his lack of a proper farewell did hurt at the time..

I've been busy today and only saw the news twenty minutes ago on the club website, rather than on AVFTT - so I was spared the initial reaction from fans.

The Tangerine TV interview was available, and having watched it, I'm coming round to him. He was contrite about his previous behaviour and I think this reduces the chance of him sloping off early to negligible proportions. He sounds motivated to get the team back on track. It was also good to hear Simon Sadler speaking at length on the reasons behind the selection.

So, let's "look to the future now, it's only just begun", and get behind the team. UTMP

Can't say I'm enthused about him returning & if I was in Dobbies shoes I'd be off as soon as I possible. Feels the same as when that last clot was appointed. I'm with the prove me wrong crowd at this moment. But I'll still be going because that's what we do.

Not much of a struggle there, straight in the keep net.
