Critchley interviews

Confidence comes from winning games especially at a new club when you have no track record.

Hazi and Voyeur - always post in an identical self righteous style. They never ever disagree with a single word the other posts and always quote and "like" one anothers comments in an instant. Like clockwork these two. As if they were one person with two accounts..........

And yes. The mixture of a change in formation, the signing of Dougall by the scouting team and CC coming in has guided Critch to a place where he is happy, improving massively as a head coach and being supported in his role. And long may it continue. 👍

🤣
Yeah it's got nothing to do with himself.

The change is at least in part down to those three. However, acknowledging that doesn't also mean Critchley doesn't take credit for the work he has done. Like say, Billy Ayre owed some of his his success to Dave bamber, Larry to Tony Parkes, Ollie to Charlie and Thommo etc

It's odd the way we can't acknowledge the role of the workers in the success and have to only praise the boss...

It's like saying that, I dunno, James Dyson has had every idea that company ever had and made all the vacuums himself, by hand.

It is a combination, Critchley himself, formation, confidence and let’s not forget that the improvement coincided with the appointment of Colin Calderwood.

Of course, it would be ridiculous to suggest otherwise! But I think you misunderstand me. The point I'm making is that the reverse appears to be the case for some people. Critchley was hopeless, the team was hopeless, naive, set up all wrong etc and got rescued by Calderwood, Gary Madine and the change of formation. There is a lot of simplistic patronisation of the gaffer cos we didn't start the season winning games, and an exaggeration of how bad things were. And a lack of appreciation of the time it takes to get a fully functioning balanced side from scratch. Especially when some key players still haven't arrived. We had comments like "why didn't we sign them earlier?!" A lot of keyboard huffing and puffing and looking down on somebody who clearly knows what he is doing and was doing a good job throughout, building what we have now, and he is still building and will continue to do so. And some of our fans in the future will say do you remember when he was shit and was rescued by Calderwood, Madine and 442?

You try to make out it’s a massive anti-Critchley conspiracy from dunderheads ... patronising those who don’t share your view on the matter. I’ve not read many who aren’t prepared to give Critchley credit too. There’s no need to be this continuous Critchley keyboard warrior!

if it was all going so well, it’s surprising Sadler took the risk of unsettling the all round spiffing set up by introducing an assistant with a very different view and history in the game.Reckless Sadler obviously got away with that one!

Let’s not rewrite history- there was a period very recently that we looked absolutely clueless, and potential relegation fodder. Critchley has done well to come through it, and it’s good that we’ve found a working formation. Calderwood has clearly brought some experience, and we’re managing games and making better substitutions. The introduction of Dougall can’t be overlooked either. He holds a lot of it together on the pitch.

I'm not making out it's a massive anti Critchley conspiracy. Seaside Aggro's post demonstrates the kind of attitude I disagree with. Clueless, relegation fodder. It's absolute nonsense. And you have liked that comment, putting you in the same bracket. And you are making out that Calderwood arrived to rescue the situation. That's your interpretation. Oxford are still in the bottom 3. What is Robinson doing wrong? Does he need an experienced assistant? Or 442?

I fear it was Sadlers interpretation. We already had an assistant who’d been in place five minutes. If the set up was so great why bring in another with such different views and history in the game?

Just to clarify, Clappers, are you saying that Sadler brought Calderwood into the club without any discussion and, more importantly, without Critchley’s agreement

Voyeur talks a lot of sense and understands the game, he also understands you cannot bring in virtually a new squad and expect them to hit the ground running that it takes time to gel, it is why I like his posts more often than not and why I haven’t liked many of yours.
