Critchley on FA cup replays

Critchley and Ian Evatt interviews on Talk Sport this morning when they were discussing FA cup replays. As normal the Prem managers were moaning apart from Rob Edwards who remembered where Luton had come from and was in favour of them. Critch pointed out that we had already played 38 games this season with no international breaks with Evatt making similar comments. The consensus of White, Jordan and Souness was that even though not correct, the FA would probably bow to the Prem teams.

At the end of the day the way for replays to be avoided by the so called big teams is for them to win the initial game !!

rob edwards is az decent bloke. and if LUTON stay in the prem then every credit.

I liked that Critchley was was in favour of replays and thought the mega-rich Prem clubs were just whining.

He said "what are the Prem clubs complaining about, we,ve played about 36 games already. Bring it on."

Good to hear I thought.
we here the same old arguments every season. Prem clubs v Lower league Serfs.. JUST glad we can be in this cup as long as possible. And we certainly are Forests hood do side.

Amen to your last comment.

I don't understand any manager moaning about replays.

All clubs know the format of the competition before they enter. There are a few more replays this year than usual, but I'd rather keep the structure of the FA cup as it is.

I wouldn't want to change it for the sake of some £100,000-a-week players who only care about the Premier League -- and who don't understand the history of the FA cup and what it means to fans.

How things have changed in football in my lifetime.

All games, including FA Cup games were played on Saturdays at the same time. I can remember 5.00 on a Saturday was always looked forward to by the country as a whole, the radio or telly was switched on and there was a complete hush whilst the scores were read out, just to see if they had won on the pools.

If a cup match was a draw, there was a replay at the other ground. no extra time, another match at a neutral ground and so on until one team won.

Now, we have the greed league and all other clubs must bow to their rights!!! How dare the likes of Blackpool, Bolton, et al consider having a replay at their gaff.

Bloody ridiculous in my book.

Let's face it the likes of Forest and Luton are never going to win the FA Cup. They have bigger fish to fry. Give the kids a chance and if they go out it won't make much of an impact on their finances or season.
