Critchley.

Yeh he is. This season was never gonna be an easy promotion after the huge overhaul of players and style of play. The mistake was thinking promotion was a dead cert for us, it never was. I said right at the beginning that he had my backing until end of next season and nothings changed really. Yeh I'm pissed off when we lose and I'm not over enthusiastic about the formation either but I still think he will get it right. We are better now than at the start of the season. Stevenage was always gonna be a horrid game and I'd have taken a shite performance and a draw, we just got done by a deflection

Can't help feeling your deflecting massively from the central issues in all this.

Still, as Critchley's chief apologist and staunchest supporter, I don't suppose we should really have been expecting anything less ...

Im not his staunchest supporter or chief apologist. I also never expected to bounce straight back up cos of our apparent 'top 2 or 3 squad'. I just try to keep a balanced view of a team who is rebuilding after getting relegated and then losing all the best players in that team Patino, Fiorini, Rodgers, Bowler, Poveda, Yates off the top of my head all of who would walk into our first 11 without breaking sweat. We were left with the dross of a relegated team. Marv..... Enough said, Dougall who was beyond shite for 2 years, plays 4 or 5 decent games in league 1 and becomes Paul Scholes according to some on here Owen fcuking Dale who has some decent games and when sold overnight becomes Stanley Matthews reborn. Lavery who can't hit a barn door, that white Pele chant makes me laugh every time, Gabriel, injured for the first 5 months, CJ fcuking Hamilton 😭😭. Jesus, is it any surprise we are where we are. Top 2 squad my arse. We are rebuilding a team and have brought some decent signings in but it takes time. This season would be ahead of schedule. I'll judge him next season. Calling for his head is pointless, it's not happening.

Some argued last time that we went up too early. He seems to be trying to embed something this season for it to click next season. Unfortunately it’s a boring style, but hopefully it works.

You make a very fair point, we are not as good as some posters think. We also lost Anderson who was another big player for us.

Hopefully the Sheffield Wednesday lad IS as good as we hope he’s going to be🙏

You mention it clicking next season but unfortunately we will lose Rhodes, Dembele and a bunch of out of contract players. Therefore it will be another big turnover of players and possibly another season of inconsistency. That isn't Critchley's fault though.

It's just the way things have turned out. I feel we are a bit short sighted as a club. There doesn't seem to be a long term plan. We tend to be relying on loans too much these past couple of seasons.

That being said, Critch has performed poorly this season for me so far. Too many changes week in week out, bizarre selections and our away form is nothing short of diabolical. I'm not saying he should be sacked but he shouldn't be untouchable either.

We sign players on 3/4 year contracts plus the manager is on a 4 year contract. Do you actually think before you type ??? That isn’t short term thinking is it ???
We’ve been great since Christmas and then one massively unfortunate horrible 1.0 loss and the over thinkers and drama queens are out in force giving it large. Tragic

Were doing as I expected said before a ball was kicked at the start of the season we’d finish in top 10 but not good enough for play-offs so it’s looking like I won’t be far off.
The most annoying thing though looking at the majority of results we could and should be doing much much better than we currently are.
We’ve had over half a season now of certain players playing out of position, our best players not starting, (some not even making the bench) substitutions made far too late when needed.
Poor management for me just can’t say it any other way I’m afraid as the talent is out there.

We do have good players but I just don’t think we have the big characters that can win us games like yesterday.
Maybe Critchley should change the formation when we play away from home.
Surely the players are bright enough to be able to play two systems.
Got to be worth a go.

How many years was Appleton's contract? It meant absolutely sod all. Just look at the turnover of players in the past 3 seasons. Look at the amount of loans that have made up our starting 11 in the past two seasons. The constant changes at board level. We have been stuttering around for the past 2 years without a clear plan or any direction.

All in my opinion of course. This isn't kneejerk due to a shit performance away from home (It's expected now to be quite honest).

You seem to get very triggered by any negativity aimed at the club. It's almost like you work for BFC.

Think we lost at Port Vale after Christmas

Bottom 10 in the league one away league but top of the home table. If that doesn’t tel you the manager has, is and is likely continue to make massive misjudgements away from home I don’t know what would. He’s as stubborn as they come and it we will still be bottom 10 in the away table when this season of frustration is over. We have and are pissing our quality down the drain away from home. We should be top three. It’s the wet wipes that excuse all this that are letting the club down…every other week it’s “it’ll come good” from those who’ve been snake charmed.

So if everyone condemned the club and manager that would make things better?
What more direct action do you think fans need to do?

The only direct action is fans vocalising their unhappiness and holding him properly to account for his underperformance generally as Sadler won’t. Especially on social media calling out his same old same old bullshit post match analysis. I’d suggest Critchley uses his comfortable ivory tower position to get his fckin act together and fixes the woeful mess away from home. We have to endure it until he does. It needs a few leaders in that changing room to make him think again but they all seem to be replaced by lads who’ve played for a Crewe at some point.

I think pitchforks and burning him at the stake on the beach is probably for when he carries this years nonsense into next season.

Our away performances against bang average sides suggests we are also a bang average side. Please don't someone mention Portsmouth away, it's becoming boring.

This season has not gone as we had all hoped. In fact it has been a bit of a flop and without another magnificent 10 out of the last 16 (that was Grayson remember) it looks like we will be starting next season in league 1. Unpopular as it may be with some I wouldn't ditch Critchley. Not yet anyway. There is a real sense of the club building for the future which we didn't have in the even more disastrous last season. There are some Critch decisions that would not be mine regards to team selection (and I think Dale should have been kept) but we did beat Portsmouth away, looked a really good team (sorry lesshannon) and have some promising players. If only we could replicate that every week we would be top.

We've gone from , We've got the best squad and midfield in the league at the start of the season to, it was always going to be a difficult rebuild this season.
Aye, it's been difficult alright🤨
