Critchley

Some astute signings but this team will flourish in a year to two minimum. This season we can be lucky to avoid relegation.

So are we playing the long game here or does Sadler want immediate results? We don't know the remit but we all suspect we know.

Final Q, is Critchley still thinking this is U23?

Not a Football manager. Sadler is a fan who knows nothing about football and throwing money away if he thinks a kids coach will be up to the standard of managers in this division. Oystons made better choices than Critchley. Going down

Get rid

May be Critchley would be a decent number 2 but he’s not cut out to get us out of this division. Scatter gun approach to bringing players in and no real experience. Glad I didn’t pay to watch that rubbish today. We need an experienced manager who knows this level or above.

I'm not entirely convinced he is responsible for the signings. Whoever is needs to get a grip, get a tough centre midfielder with experience. Cods last night had steel, skill, won 4-1 and neither of their top scorers actually scored. We lost too many tackles today and can't seem to keep the ball, apart from Ward, who keeps possession but never does anything with it.

Maybe we could get Owen back as director of football then?

The club decided to have a recruitment team to get the players and a top coach to knock them into shape, it is the way it goes in most clubs now, he needs time and patience from the faithful

It’s been an extremely disappointing start and some of the signings don’t look good enough but changing the manager after 5 games won’t get us anywhere. Whoever is doing the recruitment this and last year though isn’t good enough, 15 players in and we still look short in some areas especially central midfield.

Rather than bring in someone like Adam we thought we’d just have a load of enthusiastic young athletic types and Williams. All these players “known to me though such and such academy”. No substitute for one or two key veterans in any side in my opinion. And central mid should have been the easier of all positions to fill. An absolute no brainer that has cost us the season already.

I don't think for one moment that Mr Sadler made his money by being a wide-eyed star-struck boy. He will have his limitations and I suspect they will be somewhat abrupt when they happens.

We've got the best coach on the planet.....
Unfortunatley up to now he is not proving to be the best manager of men..........

We’ve got a whole week now of this haven’t we?
This is going to be one depressing mb to read. I hope Boris or someone does something truly heinous and quickly just to divert the collective wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Mac called me a happy clapper last weekend, I’m a little less happy but stoic to the end

Youll be happy clapping when he takes us to league 2

As I posted on another thread Sadler’s pockets aren’t bottomless, it cost him a good few bob to get rid of Grayson. He has invested a good amount since and very little coming in. It would cost a similar amount to pot Critchley and most of these ‘players’ are on 3 year contracts. So he won’t try and re-build again, at least not yet.

Perhaps NC could get a copy of the Cods game. Hull had won 4 on the bounce and Fleetwood had a makeshift defence. Coutts and Whelan (combined age 68) worked tirelessly and drove the Cods to victory.

I think Neil has the makings of a decent side with some very talented young players. However, successful sides usually have a mix that includes a least a couple of players with a reasonable amount of experience and nous.

I accept that this is a short term strategy, rather than a "long term plan" but maybe a plan could be developed to target a couple a experienced players, on 12 months contracts, each season.

I think we need to get an experienced #2 in to help critch
And a leader in the middle of the park. What looks good on paper to critch is a long way from the real world of cut and thrust Div 1 football...remember it took us 30 years to get out of this division last time.

I suspect tbe Grayson vomment was entirely tongue in cheek before your head explodes. Count to 10 and breathe in and out very slowly as you do so. All better now? Good
Indeed it was.

Feel a little more settled this evening I’am just taking us from now on for what we really are just a very poor side with some very poor players and a manager who’s out of his depth.

Silly me had great expectations for this season. 🙄

Didnt we all?

We are shit though aren't we? Critchley is way out of his depth. As has been said he is a youth team coach, not a League 1 manager. Relegation is nailed on as it stands.
He is one of only 16 coaches worldwide to have gained the elite UEFA coaching badge he is more than just a youth coach, it is a completely new side, (influenced greatly by the recruitment team) a completely new way of playing, a pandemic disrupting preparations, a CH just arrived not played yet and a CH not trained yet on international duty. The squad as a whole is at different levels of match fitness, a few players at the start of there careers lacking match know how that will come, It is quite radical and brave in what we as a club are trying to do, if it comes off hallelujah and I for one salute them. I can see plenty enough in this squad to come good, keep

What’s worrying about this Elite UEFA coaching badge for me is, surely some where along the course they teach you that if you’re loosing a game and need to score goals bringing on a defensive midfielder for an attacking midfielder is less likely to get you back in the game.

Just me but that should pop up on the curriculum?
