Critchley's fault

I'm sorry but Critchley is his own worst enemy, he overthinks everything far too much, he lacks that thing supporters love, attacking intent, the fist pumps make me sick. He is too negative and he changes the team far too much. Why can't he play the likes of Dembele from the start? He is just far too negative which is hamstringing us, it's all well and good playing all your forwards at the end of a game when you were 3-0 down. It's going to be an interesting 2 months till Christmas and we will see where we are but we were scared of them today and that comes from the manager

Good effort from the players after we went 3 down but we should never have been in that position.

Get a grip. We were in free fall last year and Critch has steadied the ship. We came up against a good side and lost, but we’re progressing well and the team is on course for top 6 easily.

‘The fist pumps are embarrassing’ …. It’s a bit embarrassing how some fans can’t get over the fact he left us well over a year ago now.

Let's face it, he's just as stubborn as his two predecessors. We'll be round abouts the top 10 all season but he just doesn't have the skill to manage what is basically a very good squad of players

We were a Championship side last season he is in charge of a league 1 team, he got it badly wrong today so he has to take the blame. I couldn't give a fuck he left us, I just don't think we should have had him back, still plenty of time left this season but he messes about in his mind far too much for me.

What has last season got to do with this season ? half our team is different and we’re in a league lower

He did pick the wrong starting 11 today. Crowd was bouncing and if we'd had a go at em from the start the crowd would of roared us on... the sitting back, slow pace football just makes the crowd fizzle out! Just let's go at teams!!! Get us excited from the start until waiting until we A: go behind or B: it gets to the 80th minute.

So frustrating

I'm not anti Critch, I just think he overthinks it way too much and sometimes forgets what it's all about. We will be around the top 6 I've no doubt but one thing we do need is Norburn back and a creative midfielder with some experience in the midfield.

That creative midfielder we need is Dembele play him behind the strikers and he will create loads of chances. His vision when he slides those balls through is class.

You get a grip Neil. He's so predictably negative. Dembele is a step up from most league 1 players & Critchley was banging on about how good he was midweek yet still benches him. Awful decision.

You need to break away from the losing mentality, usually teams who have been relegated get off to a bad start.

What concerns me is how everyone throws the dolly out of the pram when we lose, we just got two good results on the bounce but yet a single loss causes so much drama.

We had similar comments about Critch in both our promotion season and Championship season, yet it’s unquestionable that they were both successful seasons. We just need to accept that it’s a brand of football that brings success, even if that means a few poor results, particularly at the start of the season

Sad fact is some people are just absolutely desperate to get on his back. I’d even go as far as saying deep down some are buzzing when we lose so they can come on here and tell strangers that they told them so

I think you’re right about this..

We’ve got quite a few at the minute who literally relish a loss as it gives them their opportunity to get the knives out.

It’s incredible really

Dembele has NEVER played a full 90 minutes of competitive men's football. As good as he is, he's clearly not physically ready for more yet.

I think most of us knew when we saw the team sheet what his tactics were, sit back, defend and hope for a breakaway goal. Doesn’t work when you play against good sides and he should know that. Had he let them play from the start, how he let them play in the second half with ten men, we’d have won. He won’t change.

What a load of old tosh.

2 defeats out of 8 but the way some talk on here and social media you’d think we were in the bottom 3.

Of course Critchley isn’t perfect, I don’t disagree with some of the criticism either. But some people, especially those who didn’t want him from the start, refuse to give him credit when we win but are the first on his back when we lose. And seem to get some satisfaction from it.

I think critchley might be his own worst enemy as well. Theres a way that the 3-5-2 works which usually means one of the midfielders is much more advanced and hes got several players who can play in that role, dembele and carey being just two, but he insists in putting carey in on the left side of a flat three making him completely inneffective, its like putting CC as a left wing back, it was never going to work.

Its not as though Ferguson is a tactical genius but he out manouvered critchley big time, Critchley needs to learn from this but I'm not sure he will.

That midfield was never going to be good enough, Dougall aside Carey and Oakley-Boothe were shocking in the first half. In fairness to Carey his performance in the 2nd half was the best he's played this season. The red card killed us, as did the referee with one of the most biased displays. The players will be gutted but they shouldn't be, to play as well as they did with 10 men and get back into a game most would have given up on, deserves great praise. They just need to forget about it and move on. As for Critchley he needs to grow a pair and start being more positive. We desperately need Norburn back.

It’s almost as if NC has an inferiority complex when he stands in front of his own squad of players. He chops and changes to give them all more uncertainty and even less confidence than he feels.

It’s a disappointing result…. Peterborough are a decent side and seem to be on form at the minute, but we made it easy for them today.
I'm disappointed and really feel that had the ref not sent off Casey we'd have got at least a point.
I've only seen it live but it looked like two players tussling for the ball. I think maybe Pennington was coming in too.....although as I say, seen it once and it looked harsh.
The ref lost the plot to be honest.

Anyone that thinks Lavery and Dembele should have been dropped today after destroying Cheltenham first half on Tuesday I’m afraid you need to stop smoking spice.
They should have been two of the first names on the team sheet today...Critchley is in danger of ruining Lavery's confidence again...he plays his best game for ages and scores and then is wrongly hooked in the second half and then dropped today...nonsensical...There wouldnt have been many in the ground who would have tinkered with the squad again and come up with that ridiculous combination of players. Not the manager's finest hour.

The opening thread was not a Critchley out rant, it was just starting a debate about the game, which was actually very exciting, it had everything, 6 goals, a sending off, saved penalty, time wasting, terrible ref, but at the end of the day, for today's performance the reason we lost is because of the tactics for the first hour, we could have been 4 down. We really miss Ollie Norburn, his return will make a massive difference and today we missed Virtue too. There is still hope for Carey, he has it there, he just needs to be consistent and don't forget he is playing to Critchley's instructions. I didn't see the sending off as I was listening to it so can't call that until I see it. We have ended a good run of results against a good side and we will put it right on Wednesday.

Awfully strange. I know he watches all the previous games of the opposition and chooses our team accordingly rather than just sending our best 11 players out and making them worry about us, if a player has his best game in months and scores and then is dropped for the following game it gives no incentive to actually play well.

And that, in a nutshell was what I was trying to say. We will be there or there about, he just got it wrong today.
It’s a bit of a kick up the backside today tbh. It’s certainly made me realise we’re definitely not going to be Top Two material this season. Well not without improving.

They just looked quite a bit better than us… and I’m not convinced it would have mattered who we selected.

100% the managers fault today. Other than Thompson same starting 11 that didn't have a shot for 70 minutes at Oxford, until Dembele and Morgan changed the game.
Dembele scores in midweek, gets dropped and surprise, surprise, changes the game when he comes on today.
Oakley-Booth plays because we play 2 holding midfielders, the fact he isn't very good at it doesn't seem to matter !
