I think the AVFTT selection committee (i.e. - us lot ) need to do our bit and create a scorecard for any potential applicants.

Can I start the ball rolling with:

  • Fistbumpability
    - ideal candidate will evidence moderate but not excessive use of this - last minute winners at the Nobbers etc
  • Evidence of heart shapes made towards the faithful
    - ideal candidate will have NO evidence of using these

Any more? Remember, this board is read by the powers that be 👍

Pockets - Preferably, the manager will not display an over reliance on the use of his pockets and his hands must be visible at least 67% of the time.

Movement - those same hands must be moving, waving and pointing at fairly regular intervals.

A modicum of positivity.

The ability to play players in their actual positions.

The ability to change pre/post match comments in interviews.

A person who isn't a million miles out of their depth.

Someone who's backroom staff don't end up putting half the 1st team squad in casualty.

Can Chissy and Brett apply? They have their own transport for away matches ;-)
You sure Brett found his after that away game in lockdown?

I can see the Chizz now, hairbrush in hand, sheepskin dusted off from the back to the wardrobe, looking in the mirror in his bedroom rehearsing his lines........

Someone who rates BFC and believes we belong in this league and that we're capable of achieving more than just being relegation fodder. I'm tired of being thought of as the poor relation when it comes to our local rivals, and much of that comes from within. We need much more self-belief around the club.

Someone who doesn't stubbornly stick to their preferred formation, regardless of the players available.
(Phil's thread about Wilder sticking rigidly to a 3 5 2 is worrying)

Someone who doesn't play one of the Championship’s top scorers on the wing or helping out the LB
Someone who can help get rid of the "Little Blackpool" mentality

Not a journeyman who may have had some success at some point in there career many years ago, find a new young English manger who is hungry to succeed, no not Frank Lampard 😂

The thread has gone quite serious. For me a leader, someone who stands out as in charge, a good communicator, a touch of shxthousery to the opposition.

Someone who knows what they are doing, with no Oystons or strong PNE links lurking in the background

I was never bothered by the PNE link, we weren't bothered by Brett, Maxwell or Ellis were we. Oh perhaps that's why Maxi is getting all the stick.

One of the biggest things they need, considering our club and our players, is to be a great motivator.

Also someone who can inspire the crowd and have a connection.

I honestly think picking teams is relatively easy, as long as you're not wedded to a system that doesn't work or picking favourites for the sake of it.

It's the letting down of players not picked, motivating of those that are and the whole group, maintaining harmony etc that's vital for us.

I think anyone will have a level of tactic expertise anyway, if not they will in the staff, so that should be covered. Even a Dobbie type has played the game for years and knows about tactics, having balance in a side etc.

I think top motivator is key for us to get thr best out of less.

We have a good squad so we need the man to get the best out of them. I couldn't give two hoots about championship experience we need a cross between Holloway and Phil brown, a guy who believes in the impossible and makes it happen. Oh God that's bloody Mick McCarthy isn't it? Ah well til the end of the season I suppose.

Looks like we will get most of our wish list with Big Mick.

Fisting - only when justified
Fingery heart shapes - don't think so
Straight talking - Yup
Been there done that - ditto
Nobberage - none

Looking forward to it already 👍
