Crowd announcement at home games

Apologies if this has been mentioned before but has anyone any clues why the crowd announcements are no longer accompanied by the obligatory thanking on behalf of the club for their wonderful support? Are we no longer worthy of thanks ? Perhaps the SLO can provide an explanation?

Because booing the team isn’t wonderful support. It’s the opposite of support.
Never heard booing until the game finished and even then it was a small minority of the crowd. No booing in the Burton game from memory and still no thanks. Also booing on occasion previous seasons but still thanked the crowd. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not that bothered, it’s just I’m wondering why as it seems a conscious change.

And playing shit football with players out of position isn’t what the fans want to see.

Don’t blame the fans that boo. Only way of letting Critchley know.
Do you honestly think Critchley can’t see it isn’t working yet? You actually think he needs some Neanderthals booing to help him understand?

I can guarantee you he’s as frustrated as those who are booing. Luckily for him, he’s intelligent enough to know it will come good & he can make changes.

Booing serves absolutely no purpose at the start of the season whilst the team are gelling. It’s damaging.

I remember one match last season when we were getting tonked and half the crowd had left early, Tony Parr sarcastically said todays attendance is 12,100 and we'd like to thank all those that have stayed for your wonderful support.

No. The tactics and playing people out of position is damaging. It’s painful watching Lyons trying to clear the ball with his left foot. We are relying on Husband and Casey making overlapping runs out wide. It’s a chaotic mess.

Right but you’ve not answered my question. Do you think Critchley can’t see that with his own eyes? He will have a plan and it will likely involve signing full backs.

Hmm logic 101.
The booing took place after the game. I guess the attendance announcer has powers to see into the future, at the final whistle?

You’re right btw, it isn’t support but the tactics are dross.

Nail on head.
The overlapping of Casey and Hubby is so backward it’s unbelievable.
We’ve got two centre backs, going forward with the ball and making passes, albeit not as well as others, then they’re out of position, and the players they’ve gone past, are not as good defensively, so when we lose the ball, there’s a huge void that opposition players can run into and carry the ball half the length of the pitch.
s I said - it’s unbelievable.

The sound system is diabolical. I'm sure this is a health and safety issue too you often can't here a word Tony Parr is saying. This is another Oyston legacy.

He has failed to see it after Exeter and Vale so that doesn’t really support your argument.
Would agree if we were bottom and it was 10 games in, but we’re not. We are 3 points off top. Haven’t conceded. And we have the lowest XG against in the league (that’s a good thing). Once it clicks up top (and it will) we will be a serious force.

For me that’s spin. We should have lost to Orient and we have looked so pathetic going forward in the last three games. A win against the whipping boys and results going our way is making the league table look better than we are actually playing. We are on a downward spiral and if it carries on we will be bottom 6. Something needs to change and quick. I can’t see how though. The players are not good enough and the tactics certainly aren’t. Defence aside, there is only really Norburn that stands out as a top 6 player. Even Lavery is looking lost.

I don’t understand how we should have lost to Orient. We had the best chances. Lavery and Beesley both missed open nets (yes we need a new striker).

They should have had a penalty but other than that they’ve had too much credit. They barely came in our half in the second half. Their best chance of the game came from a deflected cross off Casey’s head.

You can’t make an honest assessment of this League yet. Cambridge and Stevenage are joint top.

Downward spiral? Deary me.

More like a horizontal plateau.

No it's not. It's Shouty Parr who many years on still has no idea of how to use a microphone. The guy from Man Utd had no problems when he used it for one game did he (for those who can remember).
