Daniel Ballard

Quality player that needs game time, natural leader who reads the game well, right up Critchleys street. A lot of injuries in last few years so may take a little while to get up to speed. Rather this than some Experienced has been

He played two international games last weekend so must have been deemed to be up to speed?

You would hope so think he got aback playing in March, then lockdown. So not played a lot of football but then I guess who has lately.

He was the captain of Arsenal’s youth team and captained them all the way to the fa youth cup final.
how can anyone possibly say he won’t be a good communicator and organiser??

It’s one thing to communicate and lead other young kids, against another U21s side it’s completely different to come into a group of men who have loads of first team game time.

However some of the best Centre Half’s that have played the game in this country have done this at an early age, Tony Adams springs to mind.

Ballard probably isn’t what I had in my head when I imagined us signing the centre back we’re crying out for, but on balance with Maxwell just behind him and Husband beside him he could turn into a real asset for us this season.

Good luck to the lad.

The lad clearly has the pedigree.......a full international before his 21st birthday suggests he has qualities.

In terms of the experience element, I think the Peter Clarke comparison is potentially a pertinent one.......he was only 20 when he came in but looked like a leader and like captain material from the second he walked through the door.

I think it depends largely on someones character.......some people are natural born leaders, others it comes more with experience etc.

Nobody has asked the crucial question yet. Will he wear a poppy on his shirt ?
James McClean is from Derry (or Londonderry if you prefer) but prefers to play for the Republic, even though he played for NI up to Under21 level and he identifies with Irish nationalism, having been born on the Craggan Estate, where some of those who were killed on Bloody Sunday came from.

The fact that this young lad, born in England but is playing for Northern Ireland, would give a pretty big indicator that he isn't similar to McClean.

If it's true I had hoped he would be here in time for Plymouth, from the highlights I thought he looked impressive.

Yeah if he's playing for NI he's the exact opposite to JM

Any news? Or was it just a random rumour? Strange he is following BFC on Twitter.

I wonder if NC has some irons in the fire re loans? I am surprised he hasn't snaffled someone from Liverpool yet.

IM guessing if its genuine he will be announced monday or tuesday as he couldnt play at the weekend they will leave it till then.

Didn't anticipate this subject coming up tbh! Think we are all keen to see us become a bit more secure at the back whichever way NC goes about it . If this loan comes off then by the sound of it it can't harm can it? BTW Shane Duffy also comes from Derry and also chose the Republic over the North . Just shows , I just think the preoccupation for now is whether the Ballard loan happens or not, and being very grateful to SS for all his commitment during these very uncertain times

What's happened to this bloke? I took his following of Blackpool FC on Twitter as a cast iron sign that his arrival on a season loan was about to be unveiled. Not only has he not not signed, there hasn't been a word about it since on the interwebs, and nobody else has signed for us either. And there hasn't been a single transfer rumour.

Is this the calm before a BIG signing? Or two? 🤓
