Decent £70k earned

Just been looking at the prize money for the EFL Trophy and not to be sniffed at - £70k earned so far ...

PRIZE MONEY EFL Clubs Participation£20,000 per Club
Group Stages£10,000 per win / £5,000 per draw
Round of 32£20,000 per win
Round of 16£40,000 per win
Quarter Finals£50,000 per win
Runners Up£50,000
Winners£100,000
Plus gate receipts & TTV probably nearer 100kgbp and hopefully more to come

What does £100k actually get you though these days in football?
That's a player for £2k a week - think a lot of the youngsters get that anyway!

The table in the O/P though is purely prize money. It doesn't take into account gate money or any peripheral income from TTV takings etc. Sky also have the TV rights for the semis and final.
Bolton allegedly made £3M + from all revenue on the way to winning the trophy last year...not to be sniffed at if true.

If we can go far then it could be a very welcome amount indeed in offsetting losses from the transition from the championship to league 1.

Prize money for winning is less than the weekly wage of a top flight player at a top club. No wonder football is in a mess needing ever bigger media deals to feed the beast.

Compared to the FA cup prize money, £108k for just reaching the 3rd round. Plus Tv money etc.
First round proper winners(40)£41,000
Second round proper winners(20)£67,000
Third round proper winners(32)£105,000
Fourth round proper winners(16)£120,000
Fifth round proper winners(8)£225,000
Quarter-final winners(4)£450,000
Semi-final winners(2)£1,000,000
Semi-final losers(2)£500,000
Final runners-up(1)£1,000,000
Final winners(1)£2,000,000
Amounts are per club in each round. Numbers in brackets represent the number of clubs receiving the respective payment per round.

Minus costs of cancellation and reschedule in our case.

Yeah some good money there, which makes the fact that we've now got a harder task to get it, through absolutely no fault of our own, a piss take from the FA.

Should help towards paying for the fines imposed because of some of our dick heads antics.

Am I reading it wrong or isn't it 50K so far? We would get a further 20K if we win the Round of 32 game.

Didn’t know this, that’s not bad.

It’s a Micky mouse cup, but it’s been decent for us with such a big squad this year we’ve really been able to give run outs to players who need it.

Anything else earned is a bonus.

1534 there last night, and I'd hazard a guess that at least 50% of those were at concession price, plus plenty of stewards to be paid.

No pies before half time, so savings there 😉
