Declare BFC 1939/40 First Division champions !

Could we start a campaign to declare Pool retrospective First Division championsf of 1939/40, after all we won all 3 of our opening games! I'm sure we would have steamrollered all the other teams and have won it anyway! If social media types could get involved with this we could roll the campaign out and it would be a beacon of hope in these dark times. Let's not Adolf get away with robbing us of our glory!

There were only 3 games played from the 42. I'm off to check on the pre Boer War stats though -could be some mileage in that 😀

Well we've got a Crimean soldier buried in Layton so its a good start! I might mention the winger Eddie Transvaal who was BASIL player of the year in 1896 and who went back to South Africa to fight. He gave us the idea of naming the Caunce Street End the 'Spion Kop' which was pinched by someone later.😁
 
Can we dig out a 1940's bus and have an open top bus parade with Vera Lynn playing followed by bread and dripping sarmies and sarsaparilla!
