Defenders on the post for corners.

Simple stuff, just got to clear it sometimes too.

Against Sheffield United, 9 men or not, should have cleared that ball or blocked that shot.

Something I don’t understand either, and the same goes for free kicks
Also, what seems a common practice for a lot o of teams is brining everyone back to defend a corner or dangerous free kick.
If a team leaves 2 players on the halfway line then the opposition would counteract that by leaving 3 players back.
It’s not rocket science so why don’t they do it anymore?

I ran a pub side for 30 odd years and never had my team defend a corner without men on both sticks, you can say its only amateur footy but the dynamics are exactly the same, if a header or deflection goes in by the post and you've no one on it then it's cost you. The amount of time we had defenders clearing off the line at set pieces is immeasurable, it works as simple as that.

The amount of goals I see conceded by teams with just the goalie on the line in pro football is ridiculous, I just don't understand the thought process in it.

Fully agree.
It's a trend that we seem to have picked up over recent seasons and we invite teams on by having all 11 back.

Similar experience for me and my team. So many clearances by the post. I was always on one post and it was a good position to sort the marking.
With Blackpool, we have plenty of numbers as all forwards are back. We have conceded at least 2 goals this season where our keeper ends up scooping ball back from over the line, by the post.

I cannot help thinking that if we had a defender on each post today we would have had a good chance of clearing for their goal. Something is wrong with our defending at corners so why not go back to basics, if not I think we will continue to leak goals.

Having the players on each post is also something that I keep saying we should do, it may also lead to our keeper being more confident to intercept the cross.
