Just watched prog on the great Denis Law.
He is mow suffering from dementia & Alzheimers.
One of the greatest ever IMO.
I always remember that when I worked in Manchester PO I used to go to the odd football match with my
mate on his scooter.
One evening we went to watch Huddersfield Town playing against a team (Can't remember which team.
It wasn't a great match but Huddersfield had this young lad playing for them, he was 17 y.o.
He covered every blade of grass on the pitch and was the outstanding player.
His name was Denis Law. I
I followed his career from that day on.
One of the all-time greats. IMO.

Some fantastic goals in that lot.
I couldn't make it out but Blackpool must have been in there somewhere.
On the receiving end, of course.

Many years ago I had an appointment to survey a flat in Didsbury. When the owner came to the door he said, 'When you come inside just to let you know that Denis Law is sitting on my sofa'. I thought it must be a mate who looked like him but it was the man himself. The guy who owned the flat was an architect and he was doing the plans for an extension on Denis Law's house. I had a good chat with him and he was very down to earth with a good sense of humour. Made my day.

Nice words Dave, I didn't see the prog you mention but I believe his health is deteriorating and his daughter does all the work with his trust now.

Not just work with dementia, the Aberdeen Council launched an initiative a few years back, all about letting kids play ball games on any grass areas and Denis took the first "No Ball games Allowed" sign away.

Before my time as a player to be honest but my old man always said he was a great player.

I'm not suggesting that the youth of today are a fickle bunch but there was a Twitter poll before the last Manc Derby on the best player to play for both sides and Denis Law wasn't even an option !!!!!!!!

S20, I suppose that most of the voters never saw DL play.

I wasnt there, but my bro was....Denis sent off at Bloomfield Road in November 1964.
Clashed with John Craven.....Pat Crerand got involved and was booked.
Met Denis and much of the team three years later at the Majestic Hotel in St Annes.
My bro was working there and reckoned Denis the most generous.
Signed autograph ,patted me on head and called me `chico!`.
