Development Squad in action.

About time the club decided about Brad Holmes (and one or two others) can they make the 1st team any time soon or not, they are not getting any younger. If so then get them around the main squad and if not sorry to say this but release and let go 😞

FT
0-2.
Tweet from Matt Scrafton who was allowed in to this behind closed doors clash.
"Brad Holmes and Owen Moffat with the goals, but that only tells half the story. A comprehensive display from Stephen Dobbie’s side to finish the Central League Cup group stage with three wins from three. "

Hi Insider

Do you know if next week's game away to Wrexham is behind closed doors?

I think Wrexham reserve home games are at Nantwich. Do you you know if that is corrrct?

This is the first time a competitive Development game has been played behind closed doors.
I'm guessing it was Carlisle's choice possibly as a cost saving.
I am aware that Wrexham use Nantwich but I can't tell you for definite if that is the venue. I'd be surprised if it's behind closed doors but I'll try and find out on Saturday at the u18s game at Fleetwood (assuming that game is still on).
Bump this thread on Sunday if I forget to get back to you.

Considering this report from the fishul Carlisle site says that their starting 11 had no fewer than NINE first team squad members (including former invisible Seasider Jamie Devitt), that's a cracking win for our young lads.

It still concerns me that there are so few Development Squad games. Some of the players have had very limited time on the pitch to impress and we are now vitually in December. Surely they should be playing once a week, even if some of the games are specially arranged friendlies.

Well no.11 Donovan Lescott played for Bamber Bridge last Saturday and scored twice. Trusty, Holmes and Hughes have all had loan spells. Nyame, Byron and Francis also played on Saturday but for the Youth team.
I'm sure the Academy staff know what they are doing.

They are around the first team squad but Appleton doesn't think they're better than what we've got.

Is Holmes back from Hyde then, I thought that was supposed to be until January.

Thanks for all the jnfo insider

It is all very confusing

According to the fixture list U18 were supposed to be playing Port Vale away yesterday so what happened to that

I also notice FA Youth Cup game has changed to 13.00 on Dec 17 so I am guessing that is now an arranged date.

Once again it clashes with a first team game. I will be at Cardiff on that day.

Poor show from the club once again in agreeing to an important youth game being played on the same day as the first team to make it so that we cant go to both games.

I agree Academy issues can be very confusing.
The Port Vale game didn't take place last night and like I said before be wary of information on the Official site.
The Academy twitter is more reliable although you don't always get a lot of advance warning.
And yes I agree the timing of the Stoke Youth Cup game is very disappointing. I don't know if it will be streamed.

The Youth loans are generally one month at a time and it doesn't prevent the player returning and playing for his home club as Lescott did.
However I did think Brad's loan spells had ended.

The club announcement was until January, but with the option to recall after 28 days.

I'm just a bit confused as to where he is in his development, he doesn't seem to have been able to make an impact at NPL level, but is good enough to play for BFC reserves against a strong L2 side.

Maybe BFC recalled him because he wasn't getting enough game time?.
I agree that Brad's loan spells don't seem to have worked too well on the face of it but he certainly knows how to score goals for the Development squad.

That was my thought too.

I'd have though he should've been more than good enough to make a big impact at Hyde, so it's just weird that they weren't playing him.
