Did Critchley apply or was he appointed?

I reckon he was approached. He'd got 2 massive pay outs from Villa and QPR and could have spent Saturday's rearranging his Gnomes in to a 3-5-2 formation. A bit like Grayson and Appleton when they returned, I get the feeling he didn't want the job and it's now a chore and an existence. Sadly those 3 appointments are a stain on Sadler's otherwise incredible ownership (and I say incredible because I know he has the town and club at his heart but he just seems a bit blinkered and out of his depth when it comes to managerial appointments).

Totally agree. All Simon needs to do is get a few real football guys say Ollie, Super Brett and Tony Green etc so we get a manager that fits this great club and takes us on another “best trip”

I'd be amazed if he had the cheek to apply after sneaking off to Villa to put the cones out for Gerrard, no I reckon SS made the approach, maybe he should have had a fans forum on it first then he'd be nowhere near the club.

Didn't the rumour mill say here went for talks with Rovers before the Gerrard thing?

Unfortunately, in terms of the on field side of the business, he's as clueless as his current head coach.

He can't just be appointed SS doesnt have that sort of power. He can apply or be approached.

I suspect SS and NC remained in contact sporadically after he left and he applied.

If I was a betting man i'd put money on NC being desperate to come back. He had success here presumably liked his boss and wanted to get back into football asap.

Of course he’d have wanted to take the job, otherwise he wouldn’t have got it.

He’s hardly going to be forced to take it, from personal preference and also financially, as he’d be on a big payout from Villa

He was also sacked 12 games into his QPR stint after signing a 3 and half year deal.

He was anointed by Sadler but of course was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin named Mary, who lived in Crewe, a town in ancient Chestershire. The account in the Gospel tells of the Angel Gabriel appearing to Mary, informing her that she has found favor with God and will conceive a son by the Holy Spirit. She is to name him Neil. He will be called the Son of the Most High and his kingdom will never end unless he fails to secure the play offs. Despite her initial confusion and questions about how this could happen, Mary accepted God’s will with faith. On his birth, three wisemen brought gifts of gold, frankincense and errr……

Got to be the only industry that rewards failure.

Villa? Cheers for the dough, QPR? Cheers for the dough. Blackpool? Go on then, I'd only be bored at home, cheers for the dough.

You couldn't make it up.
