Do any of the players or management team actually live in Blackpool?

Just off the top of my head over the last couple of seasons:

Beat PNE twice in derby games.
Drew twice with Burnley who got 101 points, including after being 3-1 down away from home, in derby games.
Beat Bolton in a derby game.

Not sure we had people wondering where the players live after these games.

The club (possibly just the oystons!!) used to have a couple of houses on Lytham Quays that they rented out to the players back in the day - I assume that's no longer the case. It's not the be all and end all to live locally but the Ben Burgess quote is really interesting as I'm sure that will have had a positive on things especially stability for players, partners and their families which just based on that period was all positive so can't have done any harm.

To be fair, I don’t think many players or staff would choose to live in Blackpool given the fact there’s more ‘affluent’ areas nearby, rightly or wrongly.

And as of the last few years I can confidently say that players do live nearby, maybe not as many as before but they definitely do.

Lavery, Wintle, Stuart Moore (when with us), I saw many times in a place I used to work at, St. Annes way. I believe Bowler and Keshi also spent time St. Annes way too, I’m sure there’s more.

Have also seen multiple players out and about in Lytham too.

Yep seen a good few knocking about near me too. So there’s certainly some of the lads (first team) who live locally.

I remember talking to Marvin Bryan at a club forum, remember them, He asked me who are rivals were. Don't think Preston were in our league and so I explained Burnley was our big rival at the time. He was shocked at hearing this, don't think he knew where Burnley was.

Obviously happy with our 1-0 defeats at Wigan and Bolton this year and at the Nobbers last year were you?

No, they were all shit. Just this grasping at straws for reasons every time we lose a game is ridiculous, and now some are questioning the players commitment because of where they live. Football is such a fickle business that a player could be moved on any summer or any January. I wouldn’t expect anyone to uproot their families, just so they know who our rivals are, when they could be moving on again in 6 months time.

Possibly not and probably the reason for our half hearted appearances in local derbies because they really haven’t got a clue what it means to us. Over the last 3 years we have lost 1-0 from memory with bottle job performances at Preston twice, Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan twice including yesterday…….. about time these overpaid tossers felt our pain 😡😡
Why if they did,do you think if they did they would be better players. We have got sone good players, but our current manager is not getting the best out of them, others we have are what no other club wanted.I think it’s down to the managers formation ,which our sqaud are not good enough to understand, along with at the end of the day, these players are getting a wage.

And the management team?

Of course they are. They don’t need to go to the gym for fun as well as all the gym work they do with BFC
So certain individual players (not all of them) would be working at a Gym that is completely unrelated to the Club and in the South Fylde area whilst on their days off?

Hmmm ... I don't think so...

They live locally..

Sadler should buy up some property on central drive , probably get 20 houses / flats for about £500. Should toughen em up as well.

Saturday was really poor and we just looked flat but I don't think where they live has any bearing on their performance; they would all have known from a quick look at the table to know how important the game was, derby game or not.

Not defending the performance but to be fair to the same players they have also:

Beaten Preston twice. Once in a totally 1 sided win and secondly the first time we had score 4 against them for something like 60 years.

Beaten Blackburn 2-1 and followed it up with a draw at Ewood.

Beaten Wigan twice at home and TBF our 2-1 defeat last season wasn't down to a lack of effort - we played with 10 men for nearly 85 mins with time added on.

Beaten Bolton twice - League and the BSM.

Drawn twice with Burnley.

The only fact is that all the really poor performances have come away from home - is it match preparation that is the issue?

More than likely as our nearest away win this season has been Barnsley followed by Shrewsbury. But even then, for every Peterborough there has been a Cheltenham.

Lavery and Carey live in St Annes. I saw Lavs running near Fylde RUFC during the summer.

Didn't Ollie used to live on that estate opposite The Blossoms when he was here? Apparently, him and his missus used to eat in there quite often.

Ollie lived in East Lancs.
Left the place in a bit of a mess so Im told.

Wealthy young lads don’t want to live on the Fylde Coast. It’s just a fact of life I’m afraid and you’ll struggle to get them to compromise for the sake of what is likely to be a 2/3 year stay at any given club. Slightly older players and those with young families could probably be tempted - and given we weren’t exactly big spenders the 2010 team, whilst wealthy by our standards, weren’t as affluent se the current crop is likely to be.

Some of our fans really need to be more realistic with what they’re demanding.

Also Police, Doctors and Teachers often don’t like living in the communities they serve - for fairly obvious reasons. Given the abuse footballers can get it’ll likely be the same only multiplied by a significant factor !

I was wondering where Barrow train...
This was introduced by Evo. Convinced the board by doing this they’d attract better players. Quid pro quo was they trained on the Friday of home games in Barrow as an open session for the fans so they kept the community thang.

Sam Ellis told me when I was mascot that he insisted players move to the area… Christ knows why he imparted this info to me, pre match over the waft of wintergreen.
