A continuation from the other post, it's always tricky trying to find a good film when you (think) you've seen them all.

What hidden gems are out there?

Having just read the other list I'd go for Sharknado, the full series, Parasite and anything with Eddie Murphy...must see!!!
Personally I'd go Debbie Does Dallas, as mentioned on another thread...one for The Wokes!! 🤣

A long time favourite of mine, Glory.

True story about the first black regiment in the Civil War, based on the letters written home by the commanding officer. Largely accurate, and great performances from Matthew Broderick, Denzil Washington and Morgan Freeman.

Lone survivor, once upon a time in Hollywood, natural born killers, both deadpool films, lockstock, casino, hateful 8,apocalypse now, schindlers list, the shining, anything without the rock in it,most things with Samual L Jackson in it, & definitely dumb & dumber as well as the second one

Inception - Christopher Nolan
Sunshine - Danny Boyle
Contact - Robert Zemeckis
Interstellar - Christopher Nolan
District 9 - Neill Blomkamp

Just from last year & 2020 which you may have not seen

CODA....Children of Deaf Adults......It's up for a few Oscars and is a feelgood/uplifting movie....on Apple TV
Roadrunner......It's the Anthony Bourdain bio pic where they actually recreated him digitally to say why he committed suicide....
The Father.....Anthony Hopkins suffering from Alzheimer's....much better than it sounds and funny & sad at the same time
Riders of Justice......Bunch of dodgy Swedish blokes take out a motorcycle gang.....it's on Sky.....subtitled but well worth watching
American Utopia.....David Byrne's (Talking Heads) Broadway show with the band from his tour in 2019/20.....
I care a lot.....Rosamund Pike looking after your granny and killing her and her mafia mates for money.....Very good

All available on those free streaming sites

Mortal
No Man’s Land
Promising Young Woman

Some great films already mentioned, I’ll add -

Anna
The 100 Foot Journey
The Hunt
The Harder They Fall
Judas and the Black Messiah

Here's some foreign movies that are really good

City of God....already mentioned, 3 hours long about Brazilian street gangsters......fantastic movie.....(in Portuguese)

In the mood for love.....Tony Leung and one of the most erotic, beautiful, stylised movies in the world.....brilliant...(Chinese)
Jean de Florette & Manon des Sources....Man done wrong and daughters revenge, it's a movie in 2 parts & a tear jerker......(French)
