Do we hate Fleetwood Town?

When Fleetwood were nonleague I really enjoyed my occasional trips down there and in fact supported them, once they went into the football league they became “relevant“ and my feelings completely changed
I certainly don’t hate them but they have become rivals in a way so I have to say these days I prefer them to lose rather than win
However, I could certainly never see them in the same light as say Preston, Burnley, Bolton et cetera

So all those extra 2,800 people who are now watching Fleetwood are diehard fans who have been going for years and years and all of them live in Fleetwood?

They will be people like you, who follow more than one club.

If Fleetwood & KFC Kirkham were both Level 9 or 10 in the pyramid, more people would be watching Blackpool.
Did I say that?

You seriously need to understand these people now watching Fleetwood/Fylde won’t ever support Blackpool they were more than likely armchair Manure/Liverpool fans who have no interest in Blackpool what so ever.
If Everton Folded tomorrow will all the fans suddenly go to Anfield? Same if Old Trafford closed down would all the manure fans turn up at the Etihad?
Why not moan at the hundreds of Blackpool people who go week in week out to Old Trafford, Anfield, Etihad, Goodison, and please spare me the thought of saying it’s not true, I know at least half a dozen
People who go off the Anfield and Old Trafford every other week my brother in law is one of them watching Manure he’s been doing it for 40 odd years now takes his son (yes born in Blackpool) now both S T holders but hey next time I see him I’ll ask him why he doesn’t support Blackpool his local club and where he was born.
Open your eyes for Gods sake and live in the real world.

Anyway back to the footy.

I was brought up in Fleetwood ,most of my family still live there, I work there and most of the people I know are from either there or Cleveleys and I don't know one single person who swapped Blackpool for Fleetwood in the boycott years. Their fan base is made up of people from the town or people just outside who would have no intention of following Blackpool and if Fleetwood wasn't around they would be neutrals.
As for Fleetwood having a cap on the fan base , isn't that the case for most clubs? Are we ever going to get more home fans than the Southend game?
Finally the pinching fans bit. So what? We did it 12 years ago sending season ticket flyers out to Preston postcodes. There's no law against trying to attract new fans from any area.

It's exactly that, If they wasn't supporting Fleetwood they would be back supporting their original teams ie, Manu, Liverpool ect

My own view is that I can never take any team seriously that I used to play against. Them and Fylde fit that profile.

Who cares….
I Do find the pilley propping them up which is often mentioned a odd pov…yeah he is, but most football teams are propped up by wealthy owners…where would bfc be without SS and his cash?
Owned by an international businessman from Asia who was an airport / shipping magnate, according to this site

Well you've done a fair bit of moaning about them over the years for someone who doesn’t take them seriously. 🙄

Anyway your as old as I am can you still remember that far back? 😉

If it wasn’t for the small element of dickhead fans they have I don’t really think any of us would hate them or for that matter really care, they’ve done very well to get to where they are but the only way is down for them, for such a successful businessman I’m not sure why pilley would plough much more money into his “hobby”

No hatred from me, living in North Fylde FTFC is closer than Bloomfield Road. Being a football fan I’ve always gone to the occasional game at Fleetwood even as a kid with my dad, used to go when it was just the little old wooden stand at Highbury. I enjoyed watching their ground progress and their climb up the non league ladder, attending the odd game here and there and seeing a few old Blackpool players see out their playing days like Hills & Milligan etc.
Whilst I was boycotting Oystons BFC I went quite a few times to ‘get my footy fix’ and whilst I never ‘supported’ Fleetwood I was happy to see them win!
Since we ‘got our club back’ I haven’t been back to Fleetwood but that doesn’t mean I won’t do in the future. When they were competing in the same division as us I saw them more as a friendly rivalry and didn’t take the ‘derby’ seriously, it was never a proper derby. Now normal service has resumed and we are on the up and FTFC will eventually slip back any rivalry that existed will dissipate. So no I’ll feeling from me.

I’am surprised you never got slaughtered for saying you went to watch Fleetwood during the dark days of the Oystons, I did exactly the same and AFC Fylde a few times and have been slaughtered for it ever since by a few numpties on here.
I must admit though I'am man enough to take it and find it quite amusing at times, maybe people like me and you should have just Said fuck it and gone and joined the 3k mushrooms at Bloomfield road instead supporting the Oyston’s? some of who still post on here and now try to hide it. 🍄 😮🤣

It's strange to say but I actually enjoyed the rivalry we had with Fleetwood Town. It kept things interesting as we rebuilt and gave me something else to focus on, beat, finish above, etc in addition to league success - much as I do now, albeit to a much larger extent, with the Nobbers.

Fleetwood will never be even in the same conversation as Preston when it comes to rivalry, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

That fixture was gaining traction to be fair to it, every season it seemed to get a bit tastier. It would have taken years or something significant to happen or it to have got any proper respect across the fan base though.

Especially for the young'uns, it was filling the gap before we inevitably met Preston again. How little I think about them anymore proves it was a mere flash in the pan.

@Jaffa_The_Hut I take it Kanpper's is just the only ex Blackpool fan who is now watching Fleetwood?

You're deluded if think he is, there will be plenty more.

@LeeBFC You've still not answered as to what you found offensive.

You could count on one hand compared to the actual Fleetwood fans who originally supported Prem teams who left Blackpool to support Fleetwood. I know quite alot of them personally.

As for the offensive part, yours and everyone elses dig at a town I was raised in for no apparent reason. Fleetwood is no different to Blackpool, shit areas full of poverty along with some nice areas full of money. Every Village/town/city across the world has it's fair share of idiots and reading your posts puts you in that category. You're so deluded it's untrue.

Morecambe - isn't on my radar at all.

Fleetwood - watched Blackpool reserves a few times when they used Highbury. Saw the previous incarnation of Fleetwood play, as Fleetwood Wanderers then Town a handful of times, when they were in the NWCFL and NPL and their rivals were the likes of Blackpool Mechanics, Squires Gate and then Lancaster City, Chorley etc. And before Pilley switched allegiances in 2004 I think?

Attendances were usually around the 100 mark. The ground fascinated me because of the shale and one small part of the old speedway track still being visible in one corner, from the time of Fleetwood Flyers speedway team in the 1950s. And for some reason that small section remained still in the 1990s.
