Do we have a late goals problem?

Looking at all our games this season, we have conceded four goals in second half added time, but scored three ourselves. Given we have conceded 49 goals and scored 45, this is statistically insignificant; the luck has run both ways. The issue however is timing, we scored all our late goals in 2021, but, as we know, have conceded recently against both Bournemouth and West Brom.

We conceded against Luton (4 Dec), Middlesbrough (29 Dec), Bournemouth (12 Feb), & the Baggies (15 Apr)
We scored against Bristol C (7 Aug), Peterborough (18 Dec), & Middlesbrough (29 Dec)

Is this really a problem, or just the perception of a problem?

I think the problem we have is that we don’t actually have a problem at all.

In fact, the fact that we find ourselves having secured our Championship future with several games still remaining and are discussing our ‘problems’ is testament itself to how successful this season has been….

The reality is that had we been offered our current situation at the beginning of the season, we’d have jumped at the chance, yet having witnessed the lads and our manager will n action, we’re disappointed not to have been competing in the Play Offs….

We’ve got every reason to feel extremely positive about where we are and where we are going….. We’ve literally got nothing to moan about and no ‘problem’…

id agree, a large proportion on here were wondering if there would be three worse teams than us this, and there hasnt been a single point in the season, where we have looked out of place as a championship side.

Perception is an issue, but so is game state.

If you look through our results all season you will see that there are only something like 9 games that have ended with a gap of more than one goal between the teams.

I think they are:

Huddersfield H
Cardiff H
Luton H
Barnsley H
Peterborough H
Forest H
Reading H
Bristol H
Preston H

Only 4 losses by more than one goal all season. Almost all of our games are remarkably tight so any late goal conceded will carry more significance.
