Do we need new recruits this window

January rarely offers good value, and do not want any more short term loans for what is essentially 3 months.
I think we just need to utilise the players we have better, and leave decisions on contracts till the summer.
Any thoughts on above?
 
Defence could do with bolstering, if we get bans or injuries to Husband, Marv, Pennington, we’re in trouble.
 
Why not utilise the loan market if someone becomes available from the leagues above?

Our best two players ain't ours and Cousins looked decent Saturday.
 
Think we largely have 2 players for each position when everyone is fit, so the returning Gabriel and Joseph are really helping there.

If we play with 3 upfront, which seems to be the tweak we’re are implementing, with Dembele and Joseph behind Rhodes, then another option who could play either side would be useful, but bringing someone in there will block potential minutes for Apter off. That’s one for Critchley to assess with how much he thinks Apter is ready to come in and hit the standards of a team that needs League 1 promotion quality. There’s also Dale and CJ depending on opposition and if we can afford to lose them as wing back options

The main position I would like another option is the defensive midfield, for when Morgan isn’t playing like Michael Essien reincarnate or Norburn doesn’t fancy playing that week. Carey is a utility player in either the defensive midfield duo or the duo behind the striker. A Claus Jorgensen type there would be ideal, no idea who that player is today though.

Summary: 1 player required for the deeper midfield 2 who can either sit or break forward depending on the circumstances.

Anyone know how much wriggle room we have with the squad limits introduced this season?

Apter has gone back to Tranmere for the rest of the season .

Jeez, at least we got an extension out of him whilst he was back.

We need options there then, because I wouldn’t want to be going into the play offs with Dale, CJ or Carey playing in such a pivotal position.
 
It all depends on who stays and who goes really, we have a squad good enough for promotion and unless the manager gets things right new players are largely useless right now, I agree with those who say get the best out of what we have.

I believe we have 3 spare places in the squad if we exclude King Kenny who appears to have abdicated.

That's 24 but Kouassi and Dembele both age 20. So 21 players, 4 spaces?
 
I think the squad is good enough for promotion, we just need to take the handbrake off. In an ideal world I would ship Norburn out and bring in another quality midfielder on loan instead but it isn’t going to happen.

Its a 22 man squad. Keepers are not included.
So it's 21, less the two U21s, which means 3 spaces available.

The current squad is nowhere near good enough. The defence is woeful. Ekpiteta starting will help but it needs an organiser so they don't like strangers every week.

Not sure if I direct this to fcblackpool or Ginge2, but I do not get the point of offering to improve another teams player for 3 months.
It will take most 4 to 6 weeks to acclimatise and get match fit, so unless we have no alternatives already for a position, which I doubt why would we?
 
Do the players returning from injury address the needs of the team that have kept us out of a promotion or play off spot all season? If not we must buy/loan.
