If we are hanging our hopes on two lads like Apter and Thame then we really are in troubleIt depends who is available
Apter and Tharme are doing well and, I would be tempted to bring them back if they can be recalled. Particularly Tharme as we are desperate for defenders. That would allow us to focus on a striker, we will have Beesley but need more, and Vydra must be close to fitness and desperate to get game time, he is a proven striker in the Championship.
Serious sort out in the summer.
Husband when fit is a very good left back and the young lad Lankshire in the development squad is very highly rated. plus we have Garbutt & James (Out on loan).Striker and full back desperately needed in my eyes. Possibly a LB and a RB. There’s no competition for Thompson at the minute.
(I know we have Garbutt but he doesn’t cut it at this level, I’m afraid.)
We need to invest some of the Bowler money surely…. Lacking up front, that’s a given!
£2m upfront, £2m in installments + £2m in add-ons. Throw in the Critchley compo and Keogh fee and we should have enough to get an L2 striker. What Bowler money ? We gave him away. £2million in instalments & further £ based on appearances etc …….
What money we got upfront for Bowler paid for Callum Wright.
Garbutt and James not good enough.Husband when fit is a very good left back and the young lad Lankshire in the development squad is very highly rated. plus we have Garbutt & James (Out on loan).
The Irish Lad is joining in Jan plus Connolly covers there. How many full backs can you have in a squad (4 LB & 3 RB), surely we have enough?
Tharme in particular is doing well in L1, so may be ready to step up. We do not have many options at CB who are true centre backs. Apter if not getting in our squad as cover, should be moved to a higher league. Not hanging my hopes on cheap options as I would like Vydra as soon as he is fit, and his wages would be higher than we are currently paying. If we are hanging our hopes on two lads like Apter and Thame then we really are in trouble
Yep i agree with that hence why i don't understand your criticism of AppletonWe desperately need a striker, whatever money we've got needs to be on bringing in someone who can score. Once Fiorini, Wright, Patino & Poveda get fully match fit, I'm convinced we'll create chances.
Or the biggest one is our caseCan't just buy players because "we want to " They have to be available & to be blunt who the fcuk is going to let a decent striker leave in january ?? There are many reasons why players don't sign & c.an't be signed , its not supermaket shopping where you can just get whatever you want
(i) Club wont sell
(ii) player is happy where he is
(iii) players family are settled etc
(iv) Player has too high demands terms pay etc
(v) selling club wants too much
(vi) Agent is causing issues and making unreasonable demands
(vii) We won't shift from our evaluation of worth
(viii) fitness issues
(ix) attitude & personality issues
Well we'll have to agree to disagree. The point I make is we've made 3 permanent signings, all of which will be structured similar to Bowler's but won't total the same as that we got for him and Critchley. Ultimately it boils down to how much Sadler needs to cover his losses, all I would say, they will be a lot more next season in L1, so the lack of ambition is going to bite us if we don't do better in January.Wishful thinking there Newbury.
Bowler deal was £4million all in (which we won’t see some of)
Ipswich took on Keogh’s contract - they didn’t pay a transfer fee.
N the Critchley compo …. I’m sceptical that it wasn’t the amount that’s been banded about on here.
i was trying to think of a (x)Or the biggest one is our case
We won't pay the going rate
You must be forgetting Husband which makes 3 left backs and Andy Lyons has been most effective playing left wing back! 4 is enough I think.Striker and full back desperately needed in my eyes. Possibly a LB and a RB. There’s no competition for Thompson at the minute.

He's feeling more and more like a Government Minister Ben Mansford - spinning the same old yarn but when you look back at his track record on transfers it's appalling. Even the Oyston's didn't miss as many targets as this guy .. he's like the Joe Nuttall of the Boardroom!Same as the last two, bullshit Ben’s bargain bin.
