I see the “Dobbie til the end of the season” whoppers are out in full force again on social media.

You have to ask yourself - if this guy is the answer to all of our problems and is this elite coach that they all make him out to be, why have *zero* other clubs shown any interest in taking a punt on him?

If we were to change managers, Dobbie is not the answer. Not only that, there’s no chance we’d be changing anyway. It is what it is for now…

Other clubs don’t know much about him. We have successfully recruited from within before. It’s always a gamble look at Grayson 1st time round as opposed to 2nd. That’s why people suggest him.

Billy Ayre assistant under Mullen?
Simon Grayson coaching the reserves promoted to first team?

Sometimes it's better to promote within they get the club, ease of transition, know the players, coaches etc and can hit the ground running and sometimes it doesn't work.

So for me why not give Dobbie the job if we get rid of Critch at least 99.9% fans will behind him unlike Critch MK2, McCarthy & Appleton.

I'm getting pissed off with some of our fans not backing the man in charge whoever that may be just get behind the team.

You're right of course. I bet Hull are really regretting their decision to appoint Liam Rosenior.

Putting a manager in place for a few games at the end of the season with absolutely nothing to lose so not much pressure and the ability to put a team out to play with freedom often goes relatively well

Putting a good squad together and developing a philosophy of play over a season or multiple seasons is a completely different ball game

That's not to say I don't think he could be a success, I just think some people are getting way too ahead of themselves based on what he did at the end of the season

I think it's also worth mentioning that the people who make managerial decisions work with him on a day to day basis and know far better whether he would be suited to taking the first team job than fans who've seen him on the touchline for a few games. There's also the question of whether that's the direction he really wants to go himself. We literally have no idea.

Finally I can guarantee that if we were where we are now with him there'd be all kinds of criticisms of how we took the cheap option of promoting the youth coach etc.. etc...

You really think that the people who work with him on a day to day basis have a clue about anything…… the lot of them seem to be stealing a living for me at the moment

That's why it needs doing now. But it won't happen until too late this season if at all. I'd like to see what he could do with what we've got.

How do you know that no other club has shown an interest. You berate others for saying Dobbie should be given the chance but state he is not the answer. How do you know this? Of all the people in charge last season he was the most successful despite having so little time to turn things round. Personally I don’t know if he would work, any more than you seem sure he wouldn’t but why not give him a chance? Taking the safe options hasn’t been too successful in the last few years. Ironically when we appointed Critchley first time we took a chance which turned out well.

Have you ever interviewed Stephen Dobbie?
Have you even sat and talked football with Dobs?
Based on your response I guess you have, so please enlighten us a little

But in his short stint Dobbie did what Critchley seemingly can’t and put players in their correct positions. We’ve been putting square pegs in round holes all season to suit this crap formation.

I'd rather be classed as a full force "whopper" than one of the happy to be a full force'flopper" the unknown is never dull, unlike the stale shit served up now.

I have asked myself the question posed in the whoppingly weak OP; SB is the answer as far as I am concerned.

Moreover, I give 0 fooks what other clubs think.

It needn't be what it is now, which is the onset of real decline; we have to be decisive and act now or malaise and mediocrity will be the norm.

For me its simple, A STRONG EXPERIENCED NUMBER TWO, That's how Critchley got his success first time round, NOW nothing but a stubborn Clown with a yes man next to him. Dobbie comes from the world of Holloway football and id take that in a heartbeat, add in a experienced number 2 and what do we have to lose???? or would you just stick to having fish every friday ???

One bad result? Really? Try about 15. No idea why you continue to defend Critchley. Can you honestly see entertaining football on the horizon?
We all see things differently hence difference of opinions, i am looking at the bigger picture and what the future may hold and for whatever people think personally we may fall short this season but i will be very optimistic going forward. It's what i believe so I'm right as you are with your views

You make too many assumptions. Stephen Dobbie settled his family in Lytham more than 10 years ago, when he played for us. He commuted several times a week from Lytham when he had his last stint for Queen of the South. That showed his willingness to stay on the Fylde.

When he took over for the last 6 games of last season, his record was decent considering the situation (W3, L3). And when it was decided that Neil Critchley was coming in, Mr Dobbie happily returned to his previous post. That's probably why you think "zero other clubs have shown any interest". I am sure he has been asked or talked about, he was a clever footballer and clubs will know the sort of character he has, football is a small world. But he seems happy staying with our club, waiting for the main chance. Which he should get, inevitably.

The discussion should be all about the current incumbent, that is the big decision. Everything else follows.

This hasn't gone as well as you hoped has it?

No experience compared to the Critchmeister though, only played 500 league games under numerous managers.

If Critchley goes I suspect we’ll see this happen.

We could be three points off the playoffs at 5pm on Saturday, we could also be nine points off. The latter would definitely make it more likely as the discontent would become more widespread.

I still haven’t heard Critchley Out at a match but that could change if we don’t perform on Saturday.

Blimey, we know him and he's local?

You also might ask what his circumstances are and why his family want to stay around here. Just be careful not to ask him though as his reply might not be so delicate.

One bad result???? ha ha ha jesus.. shall i make a list for you???
Don't need to i know all the results thanks, the Dobbie army wasn't on here on Saturday after that result calling for Dobbie to replace Critchley. its just the fickle lot on here looking for someone to blame.
