Maybe. I see DT as a left back who if given the choice wouldn't go forward as it means he's got to run back again. But either way as long he's playing with someone in front or behind then the left hand side of the pitch should be covered for FGR.
Also sounds like he still hasn't worked out that standing there with his arms crossed doesn't actually help or encourage his players. He must have a good agent.
If he is on the sort of wages indicated by that website he may be difficult to move on to a L1 or L2 club. Signed for Championship potential it would appear.
Extrapolate away, there's no way Thompson gets in ahead of CJ. Neither can defend but 1 offers much more in the final 3rd. That's before you look at how hot-headed Dom Thom is or how CJs pace is a massive problem for most opposition teams.
I wouldn't start either of them.

Not seen the website you're talking about so don't know. Most likely waive a fee if a club can be found who'll take on the rest of his contract or settle up with him early to get him off the books. Like they had to do with the lad with the teeth from Carlisle/Barrow whatever club it was. From what we've seen happening this isn't a development loan with a view to returning for a fresh start. Not whilst Critchley is here anyway. Be surprised if he plays for us again now out of choice.

The assist stat does not justify how much time he gets on the pitch. Factor in the mistakes and loss of possession and he's a net liability. The faith in him from Critch is one of our current issues. He just plays far too much for someone of such limited ability. We are weak offensively and defensively in the wide areas. It's down to both the system and the personnel. We need different wide players in a different system. Gabriel and Lyons are both better on that side. Lyons was getting goals in the championship and is better defensively than CJ, if not perfect. Critch appeared tactically astute in his first spell with us. This time, he seems rigid and afraid and wedded to some players who aren't good enough.
Sorry but that’s complete and utter rubbish - CJ has had some great games from wing back and some poor ones. Is he more of a winger, probably yes.

If he does deserve to be at a team worse than the one Apter has just left, then why, oh why are we paying fees for players that are worse than our own academy graduates that can't even get a kick in the first team?
CJ doesn't float everyone's boat, I get that but if assists/goals don't justify selection, let's drop Rhodes as well?! I think you have a point away from home, the tactics/formation hasn't been working and someone who is better defensively would maybe work better. Ultimately though, you can only pick from the players available. CJ has played a lot of games because Gabriel has been injured and the alternatives have not been good enough. Of the wingbacks, regardless of foot, Thompson and Lyons have been poor, Gabriel injured until recently. I'm not considering Connolly, he's bad enough as a 3rd centre back. Dale is the only one who we could have used more. The jury is out on Coulson, although I noted he looked fast but fell over his own feet, kind of like a white CJ!
Thompson and Lyons have never had a run of games. Lyons has gone backwards massively this season. In a lower division.
