Following Saturday's Guardian article about the strides being made in environmental protection at Forest Green Rovers, comes an article today focussing on work the EFL is doing with the 72 clubs to expand upon this initiative:

"On Monday the league will announce details of EFL Green Clubs, a new league-wide initiative that will offer support to our 72 members to reduce their environmental impact via a benchmarking and development scheme delivered by the environmental specialists at GreenCode.

"Where FGR have succeeded by introducing such things as electric mobility, renewable power and a vegan menu into their matchday experience, similarly other EFL clubs are making changes in this area, be it through reviewing supply chains, reducing use of single-use plastic or producing playing kits from recycled materials. But whatever stage of the journey, all of our clubs will be welcomed to the scheme and given education and ongoing practical assistance to green their business."

There is lots of deserved criticism for the EFL on this Board. Perhaps this is something that we can interpret more positively.

My problem is that the EFL and the FA are doing this sort of stuff for appearances sake. The recent incident where they have banned a junior coach for taking his players off the pitch following abuse doesnt sit very well with trolling through ten or 15 year old chirps and cracknatters and banning players fro stuff they did when thye were kids.

The people at FGR are doing what they are doing because they truly buy into it, and i hope they succeed.

Whilst the FA is virtue signalling about various LGBTQ, environmental, racism and sexism issues, it permits a sovereign wealth fund controlled by a government that kills people for being any version of LGBTQ tp buy one of the English games most famous clubs. the saudi government also practices a fair amount of racism towards jews and africans, and is financing a number of bodies and political lobby groups that undermine climate science.

The EFL has numerous clubs on the brink of folding, many because they have owners who shouldnt be allowed anywhere near the game, and whilst players and coaches get ever more professional the EFL sanctions game officials who you probably wouldnt want officiating an under tens game at the local park.

i would be more than happy if the EFL, and the FA and PL got the basics of administration right before it started pontificating on a buch of other issues.
