Dougall

There appears to be a thing called long covid, people may not suffer badly from the virus but suffer long lasting effects from it. It may not be the case for Dougall but maybe it is.

Although I think Stewart is the better of the two players, I think we're more predictable with Stewart in the team as the back line always look to pass to him. Like everything else with the team, I think we need to mix it up to keep the opposition on their toes!

What?

A good friend of mine is a Barnsley season ticket holder and 2 of his mates who ive got to know well over the years.

All 3 said to me he was ok but couldn't cut it and they had better options than him.

And they all said he's a good signing at this level.

So if that's OK with you I'll take what my usually very biased Barnsley fan pal and his mates have said about him than you and your regional manager.

As for your other thing, I have no idea what you're on about but I'm flattered you have a thing for me but I don't date angry Celtic fans

Oops Mac, seems your really reliable regional manager is wrong, so I'll take whatever you say with the pinch of salt it deserves😂😂😂

I was married to a Barnsley girl and have a lot of friends there. This is neither here nor there.

The facts are he was a Barnsley first team starter until badly injured - which makes your statement that he "couldn't cut it" in the Championship as pure fabrication. Them's the facts.

If you make stuff up and someone spots it on here you just have to take it on the chin old son. Twice in a week suggests your a bit of a Jackanory.

I would pick Kenny with a broken leg over ‘all endeavour, not much ability MVT’. Shame the manager doesn’t agree

There really are some dicks on here, who are so sad negative & miserable I believe it’s for their own“cyber-Image” as opposed to what thet actually think.
We currently have a strong squad all playing for each other, whoever gets picked, a great manager whose brought the players in, and a tremendous owner who has financially supported it all.
That’s what I believe most people think of the current situation at OUR beloved club.
Of course EVERYONE has a right to an opinion, but only if it’s what they REALLY think as opposed to feeding their respective egos.
I wish the likes of Mac & 62 would “wind their necks in” a bit. It’s becoming “grating & boring”.

What are you on about? I've given nothing but praise to Dougall and this thread questioned why he wasn't playing. When he is we are a far better outfit. It's a discussion board. My opinions are nothing like those of '62 but I respect his right to express himself.

Rich coming from you calling others for having an "ego"!

I have nothing against Stewart and you can tell he's a decent footballer but I find him to be extremely negative, and in a team that is lacking goals it was certainly not what we needed in the midfield. He often sits alongside the centre halves, and passes backwards more often than not - playing him AND Dougall in a 4-4-2 as the two central midfielders isn't a recipe for a side that is going to free-scoring.

I'd have Dougall in the match day squad over him every time, he is defensive minded but he also contributes positively as well. He put some great forward passes in yesterday and even got a goal. He literally transformed us when he came in and it was no fluke, the guy is a class act - he was mopping up everything in the middle of the park yesterday.

A midfield literally needs defensive minded players to compliment the attacking ones, think Keith Southern in the 09/10 squad and Barry Ferguson in the 11/12. Dougall is more than enough, sitting behind the likes of Embleton and Kaikai which allows them to express themselves. So glad we've found that formula now and long may it continue (specifically right up to May 30th 😉).

I'd have to back you up on this one Mac, all we heard on twitter from Barnsley fans was that he is a quality player and was a shrewd signing at this level.

Take a gander at the replies:

Dougall is absolutely quality. He needs to be allowed to run the midfield and players be around him.

Kaikai has been anonymous most of the season and never provides himself as an outlet in the pocket. Embleton helps as he sat in there and came short. One of the best signings we've done this season. If not the best.

I would say really good management than anything. He went off the boil for a few games, Stewart took in and took his chance and did a fine job and Dougall was made to work on Saturday to show his capabilities. Another job well done by Critch 👍

Kenny is class, he breaks up play, gives it. He chipped in with a goal on Saturday against Oxford. He even dropped into the left back position covering. The lad is superb.
