Dougall

He has been what we needed this season. Helped us keep our shape while we found our feet. As we've grown into it his deficiancies have been exposed to a far greater extent as we need more technical quality in that area. Can't have helped that he's flown halfway around the world and back in the week before two energy-sapping games, mind.

If he's a regular starter next season we're in trouble.
 
I am afraid that with Stewart always being injured, he is the only midfielder that is championship quality. Robson isn't up to it.
Matty Virtue is way too slow. Connolly is okay as a backup. We really need to get rid of Robson, Virtue and invest in a couple of
championship quality players.
 
We have a lack of midfield options and it’s been shown up recently.

Kenny flew to Oz and back in the international break and has then played almost 180 mins of football Saturday & Tuesday. That’s not good for anyone.

I don’t disagree that his ability on the ball is limited but with the right support (such as Wintle) he does a certain job well.
 
Kenny has been below average for a while, maybe 3 months or so. In mitigation for him, he's played a hell of a lot of football the last 2 years and is playing in a midfield 2 against a 3 week in week out. He looks like he really needs a rest.

At least once a game he receives the ball off the keeper, facing the keeper. Hasn't got a clue what's happening behind him, then he blindly kicks the ball over his shoulder, usually to an attacking forward.
I love Kenny to bits but I think he's above his level.
 
Yeah agree with all that has been said about Dougall he’s been poor for a number of weeks now. Terrible on Saturday and tonight. I also think Bowler needs a rest or something. May be he would be better coming off the bench. He’s been found out and again tonight did nothing but huff and puff then lose the ball or fell over.
 
I’m going to need to defend another one of our players here.

Kenny has been working his arse off for us this season. Is he good enough for the championship? Well, yes he is. Maybe we want to and we will find better later. But for where we are right now, he is good enough.

Has our season not already been a success? Could a centre mid, often playing a full 90 minutes, often in a midfield two be not good enough for this league yet BFC still finds itself in a healthy position?

He needs a rest and he has my respect. He’s been giving us everything all year.
 
He may have had a few poor games, but he's had a good season generally. Those wanting to rest him, who for? Ward's injured, Virtue's been injured, Carey's injured and now Stewart's injured again. Connolly's having to cover right back because both regular right backs are injured. I'm not really sure who people are expecting to play in midfield tbh. We're suffering a bit now due to us being unable to secure Brannagan in January and not utilising the loan market when there were glaring short term deficiencies in the squad.
 
Had another Poor game . At one point in 2nd half he got the ball from Maxwell Turned & the whole midfield Right through the centre was wide open not a player within 20 yards but instead of pushing forward through the gaping open gap in midfield into the the other half he passed it back to maxwell !!!

Yeah shocking passing from not just him but others.

Too much hesitation and lack of belief they can make the passes.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the lack of belief comment. We need more players like Stewart and Anderson in Midfield who at least have a bit of swagger about them, Carey might also fit the bill. We should be ruthless in moving players on if they don't have the right mentality on the ball, Husband was especially negative today.

Probably have to say some of them have hit limits, they aren't comfortable and capable of the required passing at times.

Our midfield is incredibly weak at passing through teams and progressing with purpose. Never see a good through ball for someone to run onto, mostly always over hit, under hit, misplaced or not even seen and played.
 
I don't think selecting him after flying around the world and back in a week did him any favours

He he hasn’t. He’s had two horrendous games. The rest he’s always been 6/7 or more.
 
I said months ago his passing game and generally giving the ball away was his weakness but got shot down in flames.

Great season last year but clearly not up to championship football.

And being honest he’s not on his own.
 
It wouldn't hurt us to go long and be a bit more direct now and again.

its his job most teams have players playing every week he is at best average never been a forward passing midfielder and no creativity thats not from playing to many games thats because he lacks the ability of a creative midfielder.
 
Said for a while what does he actually do. He hit a bit of good form recently intercepting play and some brilliant assists but he shouldn't be starting week in week out at the moment.

I fear he's our best option, the rest are league 1 players. Connelly better in a back three so not slating him.
 
Doogs doesn't have enough support in midfield he works his socks off and gets pelters. We need to strengthen in that area. CJ and Bowler aren't battling midfielders.

I agree to an extent that his creative play isn't brilliant, but on numerous occasions last night, he took the ball from Maxwell, looked for the pass forward, but nobody was moving into space or making a run for him, thus ending in a sideways or back pass to the keeper. Robson should have been close to Kenny giving him support, but was pushing too far up the pitch

Throughout the whole game, there was no one getting into the spaces and were just stationery and marked.
