Anyone either visited and or lived/living in Dubai who has general info?

Any good? Safety, lifestyle, climate, good for kids… recommendations areas etc.

I live in Dubai. The obvious answer is a lot depends on your budget, and whether you're talking about moving out to live or a holiday.

On your other points, it's ridiculously safe. No street crime, no 'dodgy' areas, the closest you'll get to the 'underworld' are a few 'massage' business cards on the floor. The 'conservative Muslim country' thing is overblown too...plenty of women walking around in very little , restaurants and shops that sell booze, and unless you're absolutely battered no taxi driver will give you a hard time. It's more that...if you got in a drunken argument and police got called, you'd be de facto at fault and likely to pay a hefty fine.

Climate: July and August are pretty unbearable in terms of temperature and humidity. 42°C without a breeze is too much to be outside for any length of time. Everywhere is air conditioned though, and September through to around May the weather is beautiful.

I don't have kids, but there's plenty for them to do...theme/water parks, museums, great international schools, malls with ski slopes and aquariums...all sorts

Location...again...depends if you mean to buy/rent...or where to stay on holiday.
