Critchley probably said “you will definitely play for us, every game. We haven’t got any right back at all, the position is yours. Most importantly it will get Gofogoal , 62 years and several other usual suspects off my bloody back for a while”. 😉🍊🍊🍊
 
I’d like to see a front three of Lavery, Yates & JJ constantly rotating like we had Varney / Brett, DJ and GTF doing.

I’d like to see a front three of Lavery, Yates & JJ constantly rotating like we had Varney / Brett, DJ and GTF doing.

Then second half CJ and Mitchell running at tiring legs 👌🏻
 
This is an exciting signing to please the masses, this lad has everything. Please let it be true, he will be our best right back for many a year

Is still stick with disinterested, in the sense that he doesn’t try and chase anything down. 90% of his game is his pace, which is terrific, if he has lost it or won’t use it, there’s not much left.
 
This lad looks calm and assured from the (admittedly limited) clips. Nice range of passing too. We could do with that. Likes to take people on. Great. Some pace and height about him too.

Have to disagree mate, when the wounded return to battle we’ve got everything we need. 20 left backs, two great and proven-in-tangerine CBs plus another 3 new signings for that position and Husband, 5 CMs, 4 strikers, 4 certified AMs plus two or three others who can play there. We could use cover at RB but I suspect that will be Connolly’s main job.
 
Hope we have signed someone a step above what we’ve already got. As I’ve never heard of him or seen him play I’ll judge him after a few games, if we’ve actually signed him. At all.

It is a good option for some games but you can't play Bowler and a fit again Mitchell in that system as well as Garbutt and Sterling.
On second thoughts you could do if you went 3 4 3, that would be interesting!!
 
All the hype around the lad from Oxford and we seem to be dismissing what is going to be the signing of the season for us. This lad has it all and to get him for a season is a real coup. He will make a massive difference to us.

At the moment, I dont know where a fit Mitchell will fit in...Bowler the way he is playing is undroppable...Ive only seen Mitchell on the right...can he play on the left ? Can Bowler play on the left ? To have these two on at the same time and switching sides at the drop of a hat could be very potent.
Its strange that last year after 9 games Critch ditched 3 forwards into a 442...but this season is not working effectively...Mainly because Yates and Lavery are too similar and we are missing a physical presence ie Madine or Simms. If we can get Madine back soon...I cant see where John Jules will fit in, He needs to toughen up.
All IMO of course.

I think Mitchell would have been one of the first on the team sheet this season if not for the injury. He hasn't been out long so he should be up to speed pretty quickly. He is a left footer so should be able to play on the left wing although not able to cut in so easily. He has skill and pace to burn and I think with Garbutt behind him that is a really strong left side, or even Hubby or James as left back.

We could always do what Holloway did, get the 2 wingers to swap sides regularly, that worked brilliantly back in the day and gives defenders real headaches. If we get Dale from Crewe, which I think is quite likely that gives us another super fast winger who can play on the left too.

As it stands and taking that we have signed Sterling my side would be:

Mitchell on right-mid as an attacking player. I thought that was a given?

We are on the brink of having lots of options, if we play Madine up front alongside Yates or Lavery probably means 4 4 2 or 3 5 2. In that case 3 at the back looks unlikely because as you say Bowler has to start on current form.
Lots of possibilities if we make 2 or 3 signings in the next day or two.

This is a real 🎉WOW!🎉 signing. This guy has pedigree and class. With Critchley's magic coaching I'm convinced he'll be the big star of our season. If there's a bigger WOW! signing than this today my heart will explode with happiness.

If Nicko is right, and we're getting Gabriel as well, he'll be spending more time than he wants on the bench..
