Dujon Sterling

When he came into the side earlier in the season, he looked a world beater ; a rock in defence, and fast into the attack. He is a shadow of that now. I believe he got injured, or did he catch Covid ? He seems somehow to be debilitated and sluggish.

Did he?

He's been pretty consistently middling I think. People got carried away with a new toy, especially as he was from Chelsea.

It's to be anticipated though. We had others declaring James as "clearly our best left back" after playing 1 game there.

I was impressed with Sterling in his first stint. I was less impressed yesterday but frankly nobody played well at all. Let’s be honest though, signing Gabriel and him on the same day was just daft.

It was possibly a little indulgent but I certainly wouldn't say daft. With a 25 man squad, you can afford to have two specialist players per position.

Defensively they are both capable, but Gabriel offers much more attacking wise, both in terms of him going forward and his long throw ins. He also shows some passion. Based on the last couple of games Gabriel needs to return

Sterling is an excellent RB but he doesn’t have the attacking instinct to be a RWB in our set up. He’d be a superb RCB if ever we revert to playing with 5 at the back though. I can’t wait to see Garbutt back on the left and Gabriel on the right. Would also like to see Gretarsson given a go at LCB with Hubby moved back to LB until Garbutts fit too.

Gabriel plays RB and offers so much more. End of story.

The fact that the team is not playing well is not down to Sterling and he shouldn't be made a scapegoat.
BUT Gabriel is our player and for me, currently, a more accomplished player overall than Dujon.
I don’t think anyone is making Sterling a scapegoat Insy, it’s just that the general concensus and my own opinion to by the way is that Gabriel offers far more going forward, his enthusiasm and energy are sadly missed and a puzzling omission.👍

He’s still a good player, just not in good form. Has nobody ever played football ?

Seems to me this may be close to the mark. Supposing appearances and % of wages due from 'Pool were linked. Bit daft on reflection but something is odd about him being preferred to Gabriel
Gabriel has shown his commitment and so has the club got to be selected

I like that Chizzy usually calls him Dijon Stirloin, been the most entertaining element of the last couple of games!
Saturdays must be steak night for old Chizzy.
