So with the East Stand being the clubs next big project. Which former player would you name it after?

As the clubs all time leading goalscorer, it would have to be Jimmy Hampson for me.

Thoughts?

Not too many will know who that is, me included, and I’m mid 40’s!

I like the thought of naming it though. We ought to name the North and West too.

Brett for the North for me. Unsure about the West. Maybe somebody long serving that is known by all!

Great topic though.

The West is already the Stanley Matthews West and the North is the Stan Mortenson North Stand 👍🏻

It'll end up a sponsored stand, for that extra revenue.

Iceland Stand?
B & Q Away Stand?

Bloody hell there isn't much there for anyone under 65.

It would have to be Brett if it were across the age ranges of the support.

Easy one this, the Sir Marcus Smith Stand names after the judge who got rid of the hated Oyston family, without his shrewd judgement I very much doubt we'd even have a football club nowadays.

Does anybody seriously think the Oyston's would have carried the club through the Covid crisis when owners had to carry on paying all the staff with zero income?

Alan Ball. I didn't see him play for us (first time) but you can't ignore a World Cup winner who was on Blackpool's books at the time!

Then we need a new statue (in the Armfield style) at each of the other three corners: Matthews, Morty and Ball.

Edit: then we should have each of the concourse bars named after other players or managers: eg. Hampson, Johnston, Green, Ormerod, Joe Smith and Billy Ayre. Each bar would be hung with their photos and a summary of their career.

Billy used to sit in a makeshift dug out in the East didnt he ?

However if the club can get it sponsored and get some revenue in to use to buy players im all for that

Whoever it is named after we need to make sure that is how it is addressed as and not just the East stand.

The 3 stands we have are named after some legends of the game (as mentioned above a World Cup winner, BallonD’or winner and FA Cup Final hat trick scorer) and yet they are still identified by points on a compass.

Following that logic the stand could also be named after the man who kept us going during Covid and who will likely be the man who funds the new stand.

Yes very poor , but you have added him now
he stood at the east stand in his shorts , walked across the pitch fist pumping , loved the man I did
why isn’t there a statue of King Billy 🤷
I get it, Billy Ayre was a fans favourite, however he won one promotion in his tenure here
Should we erect a statue to Les Shannon, Sam Ellis, Ian Holloway and Neil Critchley who have all achieved the same?

The question is why isn't there a statue to the other world cup winner Blackpool provided in 1966?

Billy Ayre, as much as I love him, will go down with BO in the 'who are they' category when fans look back in 30 years. You had to be there to appreciate them.

World Cup winner, first European Footballer of the Year, former England captain who was voted best RB in the '62 WC and the only player to score and FA Cup final HT and who played for England quite a few times (can't remember, 40ish?) are embedded in BFC history and all 4 are household names across the country.

The Alan Ball Stand would complete the set.

Yes Glyn James Stand, One Club Man, Captain and Welsh International. Just like Jimmy.
If not then it has to be Alan Ball a 'World Cup Winner' how many clubs have one of those !
Besides which we should take advantage of our history.

Morty scored 23 goals in 25 matches for England 👍🏻
