After a run of spells in the Sunderland-side doing well i L1:

* On the bench for the full 90 minutes when they beat Cheltenham 5-0 last week
* Subbed at HT vs Pompey Saturday loosing 3-0, the only sub being made

Not 100% fit, or Sunderland pushing him to sign the dotted line?
Would he get a look-in in our team this season?
Do we want him in January?

If he’s available we’ll push to bring him in. I’m certain of it. Young two footed attacking midfielders that Critch rates won’t be 10 a penny and we’ll be tracking him for the long term. I have no doubt.

I don’t see us going in for him again, with the formation we play. We have better players who are still developing and we’ve not seen Dale yet, and Ward and CJ will be back. For me, Embleton is a neat player, but not quick and doesn’t have the necessary level of consistency, particularly when he’d be stepping up to the Championship.

I do think we’ll look at trying to get Wintle on a permanent, and I’d try to do that in January. I’d imagine our main focus will be getting Simms back in January.

But also we've now got Carey and Dale to fill a position that arguably we're not actually lining up with at the moment. Bowler's moved inside a bit, especially against Rovers, but generally we're playing two central and width, 424 or 442 whichever you want to call it.

So if Critch was after going more central attacking, we have two (hopefully soon at least) available to do it. Would it be fair to any of them, Elliott included, to make it three? The bit we don't know at the moment is whether Elliott's better than either of them.

Tend to think that we have missed the boat on him, although he hasn't signed a new contract yet and will be a free agent soon. Not an urgent signing for us but one that I would still consider if the price is right.

Apparently Sunderland are already in contract talks with him and things have started positively.

I think it's bullocks though, because if Embo was smart he'd wait til January or the Summer to decide where he wants to go.

We put a fair bid in this summer and Sunderland rejected despite him only having one year left.

Embleton will have plenty of options next Summer and if Sunderland are not in the Championship he'll walk for free and I am certain we'll go in again if that's the case.

He'd be an excellent squad player and would get minutes but not for the figures banded about in the summer. Absolutely worth bringing in on a free this summer if possible, he's only going to get better and could fill in various positions across the midfield.

Cardiff have been struggling recently so McCarthy may be potted. If Cardiff hire a new manager who likes to play football on the floor instead of hoofball they may decide to keep Wintle.

The hierarchy at Baadiff will be scratching their heads reading the reports from their scouts on his performances for us 🤪🤛

Mick, we've just watched Ryan play, he did really well. Why? Not really sure, but you know how he was always getting treatment for a stiff neck. Well, turns out there's this green stuff, you know, what they all stand on. Ryan's been rolling the ball along it. Yes along. No not above. Why don't we try that? Mick, Mick are you there Mick

Nice one hehehe.

Embleton played on the left for us. Covered for Anderson during his long injury lay off. Wintle plays a very different role. Carey is a bit different too. Who would replace Anderson now if he got injured?

We should really be looking for better options now if we are wanting to cement our place in this division and start looking upwards long term.
